Clowes Fund Awards $3 Million in Grants

The Clowes Fund, Inc., a family foundation established in Indianapolis in 1952, has announced its grant decisions for the 2020 competitive grants cycle. More than $1.4 million in grants is being awarded to 33 nonprofit organizations in New England, as part of a $3 million distribution to 54 organizations in multiple states.

Step Up Parents receives Grant from New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

Step Up Parents (SUP) recently received a $40,000 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.  The grant will further SUP’s mission to offer financial assistance to New Hampshire grandparents and other relatives who have ‘stepped up’ to care for a child whose parents suffer from substance use disorders.

Spaulding Youth Center Receives Grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Support of Equine Therapy and Horsemanship Programs

Spaulding Youth Center is excited to announce it has received a $15,000.00 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. This grant was funded by gifts from the Charitable Foundation’s Daisy Hale Fund. The grant will directly support Spaulding’s equine therapy programs.

Clowes Fund Uses Principal to Award COVID-19 Relief Grants

The Clowes Fund announced its grantmaking response to the economic and human services crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund will double its grantmaking commitment by spending an additional five-percent more than its typical grantmaking through a $3.2 million draw from the corpus of its endowment in 2020 to support grantmaking in 2020 and in 2021.

St. Mary’s Bank Donates $25,000 to Support NH Hospitals and Healthcare Workers

St. Mary’s Bank recently committed $25,000 to FrontLinesNH.org’s Challenge Match, a collaborative effort by four New Hampshire hospitals to raise funds for COVID-19-related expenses such as personal protective equipment (PPE), offsite surge care areas, and staff support.

21 organizations to receive first $500K of $1M committed by Tufts Health Plan Foundation for COVID-19 Response

Tufts Health Plan Foundation has identified the first 21 organizations to receive support from the $1 million it has committed to community efforts on behalf of older people affected by coronavirus in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Connecticut. "This first wave of funding addresses one of the most pressing concerns facing older people-food insecurity," said Tom Croswell, Tufts Health Plan president and CEO. "These organizations are working on the front lines to meet critical needs and are well-positioned to respond to emerging priorities. Our communities depend on them, now more than ever."

Waypoint SleepOut raises over $342,000 to aid homeless youth

The Waypoint 2020 SleepOut to raise awareness and funds to aid New Hampshire’s homeless youth was held this past Friday and Saturday (3/20-21). This year, in response to the coronavirus, the event was changed from community gatherings under open air tents in downtown Manchester and Exeter, to a virtual sleepout.  Approximately 120 participants slept out at home while their fundraising campaigns continued online, and sleepers shared photos on social media using the hashtag #NoRestUntil. Governor Chris Sununu, Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig, Congressman Chris Pappas, and Senator Maggie Hassan were among those who participated in and supported the event remotely this year.

Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success Named Citizens Bank Champion in Action

Representatives from the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success—a nonprofit aiding in the resettlement of refugee and immigrant groups—were on hand Tuesday to receive the 2020 Champion in Action award in the category of inclusion and equality. Champions in Action is a program that partners the New Hampshire Union Leader with Citizens Bank to award $35,000 in an unrestricted grant to nonprofits that address social concerns.

NH Children’s Health Foundation awards $149,000 in Fall grant round

In November the New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation awarded grants to five organizations. Recipients include Gather, NH Fiscal Policy Institute, NH Oral Health Coalition, the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success (ORIS) and the UNH Carsey School of Public Policy.

Spaulding Youth Center Honored with Grant from the Children’s Literacy Foundation to Host Campus Event

Spaulding Youth Center is excited to announce it was honored with the At-Risk Children grant from the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF). The grant included a storytelling event with one of CLiF’s professional storytellers, a discussion on the importance of reading together, tips for helping children develop strong literacy skills, a new onsite library of children’s books and two new books for each student.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will award $137,250 to Greater Seacoast Community Health, a network of community health centers that includes Families First Health & Support Center in Portsmouth, Goodwin Community Health in Somersworth, and Lilac City Pediatrics in Rochester.
