Peterborough Players is looking for a dynamic new member of our team!


Peterborough Players is a New Hampshire cultural treasure; a fully professional Equity theatre in an unexpected setting -- a historic barn, three miles outside of downtown Peterborough.  Founded in 1933, the theatre offers a traditional summer season June - August and a three-play winter season, augmented in the fall and spring by opera and theatre on screen including The Met: Live in HD opera series.  For nine decades the Players has produced professional theatre at a level of quality that has gained it a significant national reputation.

The Marketing Director acts as part of the Advancement Team, reports to the Advancement Director, and manages Audience Services and Front of House personnel. The Marketing Director attends select committee meetings, including Advancement and Auction Committees as needed.

Compensation: This is a full-time, exempt position with a start date of September 2022 and an annual salary of $40,000 – $44,000 commensurate with experience, and health benefits and paid time off.


Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and emotional intelligence skills
  • Excellent technology skills and knowledge of relevant Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Suite, Databases, Basic Website Platforms, Social Media Platforms
  • Video and Photography experience a plus
  • Experience with creative writing and / or copywriting
  • Excellent written communication skills to communicate Players’ news with the public
  • Basic understanding of, and appreciation for, professional theatre and ability to communicate about it internally and externally
  • Willingness to be present at evening shows, weekends, and holidays on occasion
  • A passion for the arts

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The promotion and representation of Peterborough Players public image, and branding of the theatre organization, and shows.
  • Promote the sale of tickets to the theatre and events through press and public relations, marketing materials, advertising, social channels, website, and new / emerging media.
  • Creation and management of all marketing campaigns, promotion, and support materials, including summer and winter season subscriptions, passes, single tickets, HD events, auction, donor solicitation and special events. These include, but are not limited to key art, ticket brochures, posters, performance programs, banners, auction catalog, sponsorship brochure, ad sales materials.
  • Analyze sales and marketing data to inform planning and execution of marketing activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate public or patron-facing communication, utilizing the Players Voice to create an exciting, welcoming, friendly, and professional experience.
  • Design, update, and maintain the Players’ web presence, including website, social media channels, eblast campaigns and public pages on ticketing system.
  • Work with Advancement Director and Managing Director to develop and manage annual marketing goals and budget.
  • Manage and coordinate with external vendors as needed, including printers, ad contacts, etc.
  • Oversee creation of online, print, radio, and point-of-sale advertising.
  • Manage and execute press outreach, including acting as point-of-contact, coordinating interviews, press opportunities, reviews, production and distribution of press releases, creation of press packets, etc.
  • Create or oversee creation of promotional and archival photo / video production, including photo shoots, selection, editing, utilization, and distribution of photos and videos.
  • Oversee distribution of all marketing and promotional materials including posters, brochures and catalogue marketing materials and press.
  • Comfort with being Players’ representative at community events, meetings and functions as needed.
  • Manage Audience Services, House Manager, In The Wings (volunteers) front-of-house personnel.
  • Develop community outreach programs to broaden and deepen the Players reach.
