GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Early Childhood Site Supervisor (ECSS) is responsible for the oversight and implementation of overall daily operations of the assigned early childhood location with the primary concern for safety, curriculum, and parent engagement.  

Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or documentation demonstrating qualifications as a Center Director per NH Childcare Licensing guidelines.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours experience working with children in a licensed childcare program or public / private elementary school.
  • Documentation of 3 credits in management or supervision, or at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Computer literacy including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Current or ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification. 
  • Able to lift 25-40 lbs.
Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

Program Management

  • Assumes responsibility for the center’s day-to-day operation.
  • Ensures the health and safety of children and staff by maintaining a healthy and safe environment. Ensure facilities, equipment and supplies are adequately and appropriately maintained.
  • Primary contact for Child Care Licensing Unit, with support from Childcare Program Director. Ensures that facilities and documentation are maintained in accordance with NH licensing requirements, safety policies and CAPSC procedures. Including, but not limited to facilitating monthly fire and emergency drills, maintaining online CONNECTIONS site, and signing accident/incident reports, ensuring appropriate documentation standards are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring location is up to date with Granite Steps for Quality reporting.
  • Responds effectively to crisis situations.
  • Minimum of 20 hours, dedicated classroom support for assigned classroom
  • Informs Childcare Program Director of any facility improvements needed. Acts as point of contact for facilities or contractors, in absence of Childcare Program Director.
  • Ensures all child files are CCLU compliant

Family and Community Relationships

  • Maintains positive communication with parents
  • Ensures staff maintains confidentiality and a gossip-free environment.
  • Supports staff in maintaining effective communication with parents.
  • Mediates immediate concerns between parents and educators, informing appropriate HS staff
  • Promotes a positive community relationship with agencies and organizations offering services (e.g., DHHS, DCYF, Resource and Referral, NH State Licensing, and schools).
  • Maintains a positive and productive attitude regarding both Centers and the CAP Agency when interacting both within the program and with the greater community.
  • Commitment to actively supporting Family Engagement and School Readiness.
  • Actively participates in relevant professional organizations, with prior approval from Childcare Program Director.

Staff Management

  • Responsible for classroom staff schedule, ensuring child to staff ratio is CCLU and Head Start (if applicable) compliant
  • Maintains documentation for educator’s professional development hours, in conjunction with Head Start Educational Manager
  • Effectively delegates responsibilities to team members.
  • Approves timesheets, expense reports, mileage reports, time off requests and other employee action forms for HS Lead Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, Assistant Early Childhood Educators, and Early Childhood Classroom Aides
  • Identifies agenda items for monthly building meetings in conjunction with other program managers
  • When appropriate, provides input on staff evaluations
  • Provides orientation for classroom volunteers.

  • Reliable source of transportation with 100/300 liability insurance coverage.
  • Physical strength/endurance/mobility to perform in a standard daily required work routine (i.e., walking, sitting, lifting, and driving to various sites as required).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Be able to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and families on a regular basis.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate instructions.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain 18 hours of annual continuing education through workshops, trainings, or courses related to early childhood education.
  • Plan, coordinate, organize and prioritize work.

  • Practice honest, respectful, and direct communication as well as active listening.
  • Respect confidentiality of information about agency staff, personnel issues, and other program operations. 

EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
