Durable Medical Equipment Technician

General Responsibilities

Support all aspects of the Refurbished Equipment Marketplace (REM) shop including but not limited to customer service, sales, computer support and equipment pickup/delivery.


  • Pick up and delivery of donated or purchased equipment.
  • Inspect, clean and repair equipment according to checklists and timeframes.
  • Contact vendors to order parts or technical support.
  • Support workshop workflow, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Maintain equipment in showroom.
  • Organize and maintain inventory.
  • Provide technical assistance or information on equipment when requested.
  • Prepare equipment for online sales, as well as nationwide shipping.
  • Provide excellent customer service with the public, dealers, organizations, and co-workers.
  • Support and uphold workplace regulations and safety practices.
  • Conduct other duties assigned


  • The ability to repair and refurbish equipment to industry standards/manufacturers specifications within the reasonably expected timelines.
  • Operate a van with lift.
  • Operate a variety of durable medical equipment including but not limited to power wheel chairs, hospital beds, and mechanical lifts.
  • Operate drill presses, saws, compressors, grinders, jigsaws, bandsaws, propane torch, drills, hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and online sales portals.
  • Ability to demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to OSHA guidelines for cleaning and safety protocols for equipment and workshop areas.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Physical/Mental demands

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, use a computer, phone, and other office equipment and to move throughout the building and attend outside meetings. Employee may occasionally need to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift carry, push or otherwise move objects (e.g., files or presentation materials). This position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word and to convey and receive detailed and important information including financial information. Exceptional judgment and creativity are regularly required to evaluate results and make decisions.
