Senior Level Staff Accountant

MoCo Arts (MoCo) is a family-centered nonprofit arts education organization offering classes in dance, theatre, and multi-arts camps.  MoCo is seeking a part time (24 hours per week) Fiscal Coordinator to join its senior leadership team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fiscal Coordinator ensures accurate financial transactions and provides comprehensive fiscal oversight within the context of the mission of the organization. 

Essential responsibilities include:

Education/Experience:  Successful Candidate will be well organized, able to manage deadlines and work independently. Associates degree in accounting, finance or related area is preferred and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks required; familiarity with Mind Body Online software preferred.

Compensation:  Salary: Based on experience. Benefits include paid time off (PTO), employee\family discount benefits, and a flexible work schedule.

  • Processes and analyzes financial transactions:
    • Full cycle Accounts Payable, including selecting and paying bills, entering invoices and check requests.
    • Process payroll, prepare federal and state payroll tax returns and computes related deposits.
    • Ensure compliance with required hiring documentation.
    • Works closely with Front Desk regarding Accounts Receivable, handling of cash, etc.
    • Oversee record retention.
  • Maintenance of accurate records of all financial activities of the organization:
  • Records assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenditures and performs monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepares monthly and yearly adjustments, accruals and completes closing process.
  • Reviews current period general ledger to ensure accuracy and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Orders supplies, postage as needed.
  • Assists the management team in the creation of annual budgets and reports.
  • Timely creation of periodic financial reports and detailed statements for review by Management and the Board.
  • Serve as the staff representative to the Finance Committee.
  • Verification and validation of financial data and detailed analysis and preparation of reports:
  • Supports annual financial statement audit by working directly with auditors and communicate audit progress to Management and Treasurer.
  • Other responsibilities as needed and appropriate to the position.
