Project Manager

HAVEN Violence Prevention and Support Services

HAVEN, formerly known as A Safe Place and SASS officially merged in July of 2015 becoming the largest violence prevention and support services agency in NH. We are dedicated to addressing public health through violence prevention and improving the well-being of children and families. Preventing abuse and providing support for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence can lead to healthier and more secure children and adults. Our mission is to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking and to support and empower women, men, youth and families to heal from abuse and rebuild their lives. Through a 24-hour client service support program and a Safe Kids Strong Teens K-12 Prevention education program, this organization provides services to individuals and families throughout Rockingham and Strafford Counties.

 


HAVEN Project Manager

The HAVEN Project Manager will be the point of contact for the Shelter Project at HAVEN and all capital grants associated with this project. Duties include, but are not limited to, proposal presentation and preparation, oversight of the Shelter Project reporting, documentation, board communications, and community relations. This position includes long-term planning, and the candidate should possess a demonstrated ability to communicate with seasoned, topic-area experts in a collaborative manner to meet agency goals. This is a term position with the potential for renewal based upon funding and opportunities.

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Assist colleagues with assembling project teams (architect, civil engineering, legal, others as needed)
  • Support efforts to identify and obtain required zoning permits and approvals including applicable state permits
  • Attend construction meetings and oversee the design team, contractor, and owner’s construction representative performance and work with senior management on decision- making
  • Assist with pre-construction site evaluation, space requirements, and design layout
  • Prepare RFP’s and assist in the procurement process of goods and services
  • Track and manage project timelines and deliverables
  • Work with contractors and vendors to understand specifications, blueprints, addendums, and change orders
  • Work with team members to identify municipal affordable housing opportunities and responses to RFPs

Grants Management Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with staff to review applicant and grantee financial reports to perform grant due-diligence procedures and identify potential concerns
  • Correspond with grantors as requested
  • Participate on strategy teams and support staff in developing applications, budgets, and contract requirements for grant applications
  • Research and provide information to leadership about grant opportunities, especially those connected to Housing work
  • Maintain grantee contact database
  • Attend statewide housing meetings to track available funding sources for the Shelter project
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, public administration, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with rental subsidy programs such as HARP, Section 8, VA, HUD 202, or USDA programs; and connecting clients to such programs when necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to engage a wide range of vendors and build long-term relationships

 

  • Goal and action-oriented and able to take the initiative without close supervision
  • Comfortable being a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside HAVEN
  • High energy and passion for HAVEN’s mission is essential
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience managing staff
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends, as necessary

  • Must be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks (such as phone calls, computer work, attending meetings) under stressful situations and able to consistently function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be capable of using a visual display terminal with keyboard, repetitively use his/her wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
  • Must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs and lift or move up to 40 pounds.

 

Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.  Completion of Criminal and Driver’s Record Check required for hire.

40 Hours per week – Exempt Hourly – Benefits Eligible Level: Manager
