Chief Operating Officer

Greater Nashua Mental Health

Established in 1920, Greater Nashua Mental Health has as its mission: empowering individuals to lead full and satisfying lives through treatment and support. Our agency provides comprehensive, evidence-based behavioral health services for individuals with mental health and/or substance misuse disorders. We offer a wide array of services in office and community settings, serving adults and children.  As the State-designated Community Mental Health Center for Southern Hillsborough County, we serve everyone who walks in our doors, and no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay for services.  Without our agency, many of the most vulnerable members of our community would not have access to critically needed behavioral health care.   We believe that by respecting people as they are, we can help them to become all that they wish to be.


Job Summary:
Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Senior Leadership Team! The COO is responsible for administratively overseeing operations throughout GNMH’s programs and facilities. The COO provides the leadership and support required to maintain current programs and to develop new programming and systems. The COO evaluates workflow and resources agency wide and leads improvement efforts to better meet our agency’s mission.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Insure adequate staff resources for programs by promoting a work environment in which staff are supported, offered rich career development opportunities, and held accountable for performance.
• Responsible for all administrative aspects within service programs including program planning, developing revenue streams, budget development and management, reporting to funds, and resource deployment.
• Develop, monitor, and oversee GNMH Operational Plan. 
• Work collaboratively with Chief Information Officer to ensure that GNMH technology supports efficient service delivery, documentation, and revenue generation.
• Ensure GNMH facilities provide an adequate, safe space for all clients and staff.
• Work collaboratively with Chief Financial Officer to develop and oversee a strategic plan for GNMH facilities.
• Maintain agency credibility in the community through strong working relationships with other area agencies, working with development and public relations staff to feature positive agency profile, and preparing reports to monitor efficiency and effectiveness of services for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support creation and modification of policies and procedures for existing & future services.
• Work with the Bureau of Behavioral Health to implement Bureau directives and programming to meet Bureau expectations.
• Support relationships with insurers and managed care companies as needed.
• Attend agency, community and State meetings to represent GNMH as needed.
• Update and maintain professional knowledge and skills by attending relevant workshops and trainings, actively reviewing professional literature and seeking ongoing supervision and peer discussion.
• Communicate agency values to staff and provide positive leadership to help staff view change as an opportunity.
• Engage in strategic and tactical planning to identify and maximize opportunities to meet community need.
• Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, direct reports, and others within GNMH and in the community.
• Act as President & CEO in his/her absence.
• Work effectively with other members of senior management and share in coverage of management and clinical responsibilities.

Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Human or Social Services, or related field is required, a Master’s Degree is preferred. Progressively responsible management and/or supervisory experience may also be considered.
• 6-8 years of related work experience.
• Strong supervisory skills and ability to lead and guide staff.  Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff. 
• Demonstrated collaborative and inclusive management style with the ability to lead individuals and systems through change.
• Managed care experience in public and/or private sector, including exposure to integrated systems of care, capitation arrangements, and managed competition is desired.
