Chief Financial Officer

Our CFO will serve as a critical member of the executive leadership team developing and implementing Waypoint’s financial management strategy, responsible for effective and efficient financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting.

While overseeing the areas of Accounting, IT, and Real Estate our CFO reports to the CEO.   

Our next CFO will have these characteristics: 

  • The CFO is a leader and a mentor, who provides strategic vision and mentors peers and Directors in the understanding of financial reporting.  
  • The right candidate will partner with the Executive Team in modeling and fostering a culture that is results oriented, collaborative, values a learning environment and strives to continuously improve performance and quality and ultimately to increase positive social impact.  
  • The CFO is a steward of the agency’s assets – protecting them by formulating, enforcing, and adhering to financial policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and 501(c)3 requirements. This person stays up-to-date on legislation and analyzes current events to anticipate future trends affecting financial activities.  
  • The ideal person is relational, able to establish and maintain strong, transparent trusted relationships with Waypoint team members, Trustees, funders, state and federal partners, banks, donors, and vendors.   
  • They are results-focused, leading practices for regular analysis of financial performance, trends, forecasts and ensuring timely delivery of analytical reports and forecasts to senior leadership partnering with fellow leaders to drive strategy execution across the organization.  
  • The CFO is committed to the mission of Waypoint and to expanding their professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing and utilizing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Our next CFO will need: 

Progressive work experience including supervisory experience, familiarity with non-profit fiscal management.  High proficiency in Excel and MS Office, knowledge of risk management and GAAP accounting principles, excellent oral and written communication, Master’s Degree (CPA preferred). Non-Profit experience highly desired. Candidates will be asked to engage in background check.
