Outpatient Counselor


Headrest supports individuals and their families, friends and neighbors affected by substance use, navigating recovery, or in crisis, by providing effective programs and treatment options that support prevention and long- term recovery.  Headrest will never turn anyone away.

The Outpatient Counselor advances Headrest’s mission by providing clients with quality evidenced-based counseling services, consistent with the client’s individual treatment plan, objectives and goals.

  • Minimum of a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).
  • Previous experience in addiction treatment.
  • Able to maintain a professional attitude, behavior and follow ethical state and governmental guidelines
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills

Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

Under the direction of the Clinical Director:  Conduct screenings, intakes, orientations, assessments, treatment plans, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referrals, reports and record keeping, consultation with other professionals in regard to client treatment/services.
In collaboration with the Clinical Director, develop and implement an Intensive Outpatient Program, providing multiple group weekly meetings combined with  individual counseling.  
Create and maintain accurate and timely client records to thoroughly document treatment as well as for billing purposes.  


Receives administrative and clinical supervision by the Clinical Director.

Other Duties

Headrest is a service organization with a relatively small number of employees, requiring flexibility and cooperation among all staff. Employees will need to complete other duties as assigned in order to provide quality community services.
