Basic Function

Provide technical and problem-solving support to computer users in the organization expeditiously and with minimum disruption. This includes supporting desktops, laptops, printers, faxes, scanners and other peripherals, as well as performing routine maintenance and upgrade functions on both hardware and software.


· Responsible for help desk support to all GSIL computer users involving desktop hardware, operating systems, printers, and PDA’s.

· Responsible for Microsoft Office setup, trouble shooting and end user software support.

· Coordinates conduct or co-presents training workshops for staff and consumers.

· Conduct one-on-one training sessions on specific computer/phone functionality, as needed at all GSIL locations.

· Install new PC/LAN hardware and software and coordinate hardware and software upgrades to workstations.

· Update IT Task Requests and inform users/requestors when task has been completed.

· Coordinate desktop hardware repairs with vendors.

· Track and update IT equipment inventory and provide periodic report to Finance department.

· Provide support of multi-vendor software applications.

· Participate in general GSIL events and activities.

Other Responsibilities:

· Maintain professional knowledge / skills by reviewing professional literature and attending trainings / workshops

· Support and uphold GSIL policies and procedures, workplace regulations and safety practices.

· Share newsworthy information appropriately throughout the organization.

· Conduct other duties as assigned that will increase options for persons with disabilities to live independently in their communities.

Education/Training/ Experience

One to Three years of PC/Desktop Support experience in a large office environment. Proficient with Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory, MS Office and hardware support. Strong analytical ability and interpersonal skills to communicate well with staff and vendors. Able to prioritize multiple problems and tasks, and function independently with minimal oversight and direction. A valid drivers’ license and privately-owned vehicle are also required, with mileage reimbursement.

*Physical/Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, use a computer, a telephone, and other office equipment and to move throughout the building and attend outside meetings. Employee may occasionally need to exert up to 30 pounds of force to lift carry, push or otherwise move objects (e.g. computers, files or presentation materials). This position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas and to comprehend and present detailed and critical information including but not limited to financial information. Exceptional judgment and creativity are regularly required to evaluate results and make decisions.
