Bookkeeper

RESTORE HOPE

RESTORE HOPE: LIBERIA provides relief and empowerment to the most vulnerable through integrated services in Health, Education, and Economic Development. We provide direct support to over 600 of the most disadvantaged women & children in the Liberia's Kolahun District (population of about 75,000).   We also support schools throughout the district and to the Kolahun Hospital, a Ministry of Health District Referral Hospital. Experienced bookkeeper in non-profit organizational accounting, with fund accounting experience essential, as well as an understanding of grants management. Estimated time commitment is 12-15 hours per month.

Requirements:

Accuracy, attention to detail and financial aptitude. Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Docs & Sheets. Must be able to work independently and effectively with a diverse team.  Experience with international nonprofit organizations is preferred. 

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain chart of accounts and proper accounting records
  • Record deposits
  • Process all expense invoices and payments; prepare checks and/or online banking payments; assure prompt payments
  • Prepare all month-end adjusting journal entries
  • Reconcile account balances with Network for Good (donations software)
  • Prepare monthly asset and liability account reconciliations
  • Monitor internal controls and develop additional controls where needed
  • Responsible for monthly, annual and special reporting
  • Generate monthly financial statements
  • Assist in preparation of financial documentation, as needed, for grant funders
  • Prepare information for annual independent audit and Form 990
  • Prepare all 1099s at end-of-year
  • Assist with the annual budget preparation
  • Prepare reports for directors as needed
  • Assist treasurer with preparation of board information
  • Various record keeping activities
  • Prepare document package for auditor
  • State of NH Annual Report / NH Charitable Trust Unit (AG’s Office) Report - done yearly
  • Assist with fundraising activities, as needed, and support and assist in the implementation of strategic plans (i.e. financial)
