Development and Community Relations Specialist

Future In Sight, established as the New Hampshire Association for the Blind in 1912, is the only statewide nonprofit that provides specialized services and support that meet the range of needs that individuals of all ages and stages of vision loss experience at home, at school, and in the community – including via online learning and telehealth channels. 

In a highly visual world, having a visual impairment can have a far-reaching effect on all aspects of life. From a child’s early development, teens’ preparation for the workforce, adults’ career adaptations, to seniors’ safety, independence, and mental health, building connections, accessing training and support are all critical drivers of overall health and well-being.  Both our Youth Services and Adult Services teams address the holistic needs of the person served

As an integral member of the development, marketing and communication team, the Development and Community Relations Specialist role is a varied one that combines elements of development and fundraising, events, stakeholder management, content development, and relationship building. The Development and Community Relationship Specialist is the principal ambassador of the organization with responsibilities to deliver a consistent message of Future In Sight’s vision within the local community as well as assist fundraising efforts.  


Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communication, or Liberal Arts with three to five years of experience in some combination of development, fundraising, events management,  journalism and/or content development, public relations or social sector communications is necessary. Demonstrated track record of community engagement, content development, event organizing, and fundraising activities.


The Development and Community Relations Specialist will work effectively across the organization to understand and express the brand of Future In Sight and work with and for the Director of Development to execute the organization’s development, community building, and media strategy.

  • Support fundraising activities as directed by the Development Director.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, oral and visual communication skills, including expert-level grammar and proofing capabilities
  • Produce quality content at a consistent pace that grows audiences for referrals, volunteers, and financial support including social media, blogs, and PR efforts.
  • Support marketing & outreach efforts that build referrals and enhance volunteer recruitment initiatives
  • Organize and execute fundraising events
  • Compose and publish monthly e-newsletter
  • Optimize and manage Google (ad words) Grant
  • Attend organizational events; cover youth and adult programmatic activities; communicate broadly the events and activities and their impact on those we serve.
  • Provide support for online giving campaigns with website and social media content
  • Build collaborative relationships with colleagues that facilitate plentiful content creation
