Program Director

Seacoast Outright

For 28 years, Seacoast Outright has been serving, supporting, and advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersexed, and alllied youth in the Greater Seacoast Area of New Hampshire and Southern Maine. We provide safe spaces in which our youth may socialize, learn, and mkae connnections, hosting weekly youth groups, conducting outreach and education, partnering with other youth organizations, and sitting on several steering committees to ensure the needs of our community are represented in NH and southern Maine.

Currenlty, we rely on volunteers to moderate, facilitate, and work on various committees to complete our mission. Since it's inception, the organization has trained over 500 vounteers, assisted over 500 youth each year, and given thousands of hours of sensitivyt training, and advocacy and eductional work. We offer a Discord Chat Space, Game Night, and Friday NIght Discussion Group, as well as a monthly Parent Support Group. We also host various events throughout the year, culmininating in PRIDE in June.

Strategic Planning in May 2020 identified an unmet need for direct mental health services for LGBTQ youth, including individual and group therapy, and substance misuse services. We are planning expansion in these areas.


Seacoast Outright is seeking an energetic, mission-driven, creative Program Director to manage our current core programming and develop programming in these key strategic areas. As a new position at Seacoast Outright, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the organization, help expand its scope and reach, and have a major impact on the LGBTQ community at large.

The position is 20 hours per week, reporting to the Executive Director. While the majority of time will focus on programming, other tasks relevant to the overall welfare of the organization will also be required.

  • Master of Social Work
  • Two years of experience related to education, youth, and/or program development
  • Supervision experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to manage confidential and sensitive information and use good judgment
  • Able to multi-task, while prioritizing competing demands with limited time
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Slack, and willingness to learn new applications
  • Flexibility
  • Able to work independently AND be a team player.
  • Enthusiasm for networking with the other youth agencies

Existing and New Programming

  • Oversee all groups currently offered, including Discord Chat Space, Game Night, Friday Night Discussion Group, and Alternative Peer Group including personal participation at times, evaluation and revision of current practices, and outreach. Attend evening groups on a semi-regular basis for first three months.
  • Act as point person for expanded mental health services. This includes exploring potential partnerships with established mental health centers or practices; in-house mental health services; and/or UNH MSW interns with supervision. Identify other services and programming relevant to LGBTQ youth and develop offerings, whether one-time events or ongoing groups, including four annual events
  • Nurture and support our cadre of volunteer facilitators (including recruitment, vetting, scheduling and placement, and training), conducting and refining our training program and offering ongoing support to facilitators.
  • Supervise UNH Interns from Department of Social Work.
  • Provide referrals and resources to individual youth in need of support
  • Ensure proper documentation of meetings (youth emergency forms, notes from Friday Group, incident reports, etc)  and communication between facilitators
  • Track youth participation and attendance.  Evaluate statistics and program delivery. Develop new evaluation and data management system
  • Present Suicide Prevention Training as requested and/or train volunteers to present
  • Act as staff liaison to Board Program Committee. Evaluate ongoing programming, present issues, and gather input.
  • Manage meeting sites. Secure and deliver meeting supplies as needed
  • Develop program budget in concert with Executive Director

Management and Administration

  • With a small, yet dedicated, group of Board members and volunteers, some events require all hands on deck. It is assumed that staff will fully participate in PRIDE events and other annual events we host and attend.
  • Annual Presentation to the Board of Directors
  • Contribute relevant sections to grant applications
