Southwestern Community Services (SCS), one of New Hampshire’s five community action agencies, has served the needs of Cheshire and Sullivan County citizens since 1965. SCS is a tax-exempt non-profit organization whose vision is to create and support a climate where poverty is never accepted as a chronic or permanent condition of any person’s life. SCS works to maintain awareness of the needs of the people in our communities. We provide a comprehensive range of services and advocacy programs—from housing to nutrition to education and more. Our programs are designed to have a measurable impact on poverty by covering the needs of children, families, and the elderly.

Southwestern Community Services is seeking bookkeeper with housing accounts payable and accounts receivable experience.  This is a full-time, hourly, professional position located in our Keene office.

Position requires the ability to process accounts payable and receivables for SCS elderly, senior, workforce and affordable housing properties.  This includes data entry, cash management, tenant rent posting and general ledger posting.

Works collaboratively with other members of the Fiscal team and the Property Management department.  Logical thinking, effective communication, managing multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is a must.  Utilizing Financial Edge, PaperSave, Genesis and Microsoft Office.  Reliable vehicle with vehicle insurance is required.

Prepares and process all things relative to accounts payable and account receivable for the SCS elderly, senior, workforce and affordable housing properties.  Including data entry, cash management, tenant rent posting, and general ledger posting.

Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Business/Accounting or equivalent in education and experience required.
  • 2 years experience in bookkeeping; Housing field preferred.
  • Reliable vehicle with proof of vehicle insurance required.
  • Microsoft Office experience required (Excel, Outlook and Word).
Responsibilities:
  • Prepares/Scans/Data Entries all invoices with accuracy and timeliness into the PaperSave software for entry into Financial Edge accounting system.
  • Matches checks with remittances; prepares payments for delivery.
  • Maintains database of vendors including tax ids, W9 and when applicable Certificates of Insurance.
  • Collects/posts/deposits daily receipts (includes physically attending to various banking institutions)
  • Reports/maintains daily cash balances/cash management including processing weekly ACH transactions and online transfers.
  • Maintains tenant ledgers within Genesis software.
  • Communicates with Property Management Dept with regards to tenant activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
