Amoskeag Health, formerly Manchester Community Health Center (MCHC), is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) federally qualified health center offering high-quality, comprehensive, and family-oriented primary health care and support services since 1993. Now known as The Dr. Selma Deitch Center for Children and Teens, Child Health Services (CHS) is the original pediatric practice of MCHC dedicated to improving the health and well-being of at-risk children. In June of 2019, all locations of MCHC consolidated under one name, Amoskeag Health.

Through all its programs, Amoskeag Health serves over 14,579 patients annually across four locations in Manchester.

This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

Primary care, preventive care, outreach and enabling services at Amoskeag Health are supported in part by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Health Center Cluster grant number H80CS00571. This grant provides approximately 15% of total revenue.

A collaboration between Amoskeag Health and the Manchester School District is looking for a Community Schools Behavioral Health Counselor. This partnership strives to promote inclusion, diversity, and equity of services to all students and families, including those who may have previously faced barriers to care.

The Community Schools Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for ongoing direct mental health counseling, behavioral support, comprehensive treatment/behavioral planning, classroom observation, and case management services to elementary school students enrolled in the Community Schools Program. The goal of these services is to provide interventions that enhance the overall physical, emotional, and educational well-being of program participants as well as, to provide opportunities for participants to build strong and meaningful connections with their families, schools, and communities through ongoing implementation of trauma-informed schools approach.

1. Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family, is required (LCMHC, LICSW, LMFT) NH license preferred.

2. Experience working in a school environment, preferably in an elementary school setting, with families with young children.

3. Spanish language skills helpful.

4.   Knowledge and understanding of trauma and its impact on children and families.
