Sales Associate

Taproot Farm & Environmental Education Center
  1. Taproot Farm & Environmental Education Center (Taproot) is a 501c3 tax-exempt organization. Our work is guided by our mission, which is nurturing care for the environment by educating, inspiring, and connecting communities to the land, to their food, and to each other in a holistic manner. Our work falls under three distinct but holistically integrated realms: Education, Food & Agriculture, Ecological & Community Stewardship. Our programs include the Root Seller Marketplace, the Lancaster Community Garden, North Country Gleaners, and a diverse slate of Education programs. While Taproot’s work is varied, each of its programs stems from the central principle that healthy food, a healthy environment, and a healthy community are intimately linked and mutually supportive. With this principle in mind, Taproot’s programs support three impact areas: economic viability, restorative food systems, and environmental education.

About the Root Seller:

The goal of the Root Seller Marketplace (RSM) is to increase access to healthy food for the greater community and also inform the public about Taproot’s programs and events. The purpose of the RSM is to support a thriving local food system by:

a) providing space to local farmers, food producers, and artisan crafters to sell their products in a centralized, year-round location (Local Direct Vendors);

b) connecting patrons to regionally made retail products to limit the farm to plate footprint;

c) offering whole, nutritious food in bulk in order to reduce wasteful packaging;

d) offering educational opportunities that align with Taproot’s mission.

As a program of Taproot's, the Root Seller Marketplace effectively raises “funds” by implementing Taproot’s mission (via sales) instead of the traditional model of fundraising for the delivery of our mission. The Root Seller allows us to live out our mission every day by directly connecting us to our local farmers and food year round.
