Staff Accountant

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant reports to the CFO and works closely to establish and maintain accounting systems and procedures; makes recommendations on the implementation of departmental accounting system revisions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; and establishes and maintains effective accounting controls.   Under minimal direction, the Staff Accountant performs complex professional accounting duties to support the agency.

Qualifications the Successful Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in accounting, business administration, or related field and experience in finance. 
  • State and federal contract experience required including development of budgets. 
  • Demonstrated skills in proposal writing.
  • Knowledge of Federal and New Hampshire Program Guidance methods and regulations especially Head Start and Home Visiting Programs. Local candidates preferred.
  • Experience with technology systems such as ADP Solutions and MS Dynamics 365.
  • Ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial team members
  • Proven ability/desire to work and solve problems as a team
  • Thrives in a fast paced, technology-focused environment
