Associate Director of Alumni Relations, Director of Alumni Outreach

Description: 

Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, the Associate Director of Alumni Relations/Director of Alumni Outreach is responsible for the co-creation & implementation of strategic plans focused on outreach, engagement, and participation of alumni. Serves as the main staff point of contact for affinity groups, specifically our Alumnae affinity group XIX Society, alumni of color, and young alumni creating meaningful engagement opportunities, events, and communications. Position is responsible for oversight, marketing and metrics for overall programming including in person and virtual events for our alumni.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following (other duties may be assigned at any time at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor):   
 
Strategic Outreach

Works closely with Director of Alumni Relations and other senior managers to set goals and to develop and implement overarching relationship management strategies that support the School’s priorities, including but not limited to leadership & volunteer development, outreach to our alumni of color community, alumnae, & young alumni, and more;
Oversees programmatic performance evaluation and resourcing, process improvement and research.

Collaboration and Volunteer Management

Work in partnership to create a vibrant culture of philanthropy, service and volunteerism;
Collaborate with a variety of partners at the School on robust alumni outreach and education;
Meet one-on-one or in small groups with alumni to recruit, manage, train and support volunteers;
Represent the School’s educational philosophy and programming to the alumni body both in public appearances and in written communications.

Alumni Programming and Events

  • Serve as lead for alumni events both on and off the grounds; travel within the continental U.S. as needed
  • Develop strategies to encourage new attendees, and expand engagement with constituents;
  • Develop programming for and support affinity groups such as the XIX Society for women, alumni of color and young alumni;
  • Plan and execute virtual programming, such as webinars for the alumni community;
  • Coordinates with other departments of the School to run Anniversary Weekend. Assists the Chairpersons of Reunion Classes with coordination of events related to the Weekend.

Operations

  • Oversee the Alumni team’s use of Raiser’s Edge;
  • Coordinate the team’s use of constituent management practices “EMATs”, toward the development an effective, data-driven Engagement program;
  • Strategically manages a department budget ensuring to minimize expenses while maximizing return.

 
Supervisory responsibilities      
Alumni Relations and Giving Officer (also reports to Director of Annual Giving)
 
Travel Requirements: 

  • Ability and willingness to travel by automobile, plane, or other public transportation and work weekends and evenings.
  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree required (liberal arts or business focus preferred)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant role
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Outgoing and positive personality, strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative working style
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working both independently and as a team member
  • Creative and motivated to develop and execute new programs
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work weekends and evenings to manage alumni events both on and off the grounds
  • Ability to respond to constituent inquiries after hours, when necessary
