Nashua Senior Activity Center

Since The Nashua Senior Activity Center first opened in 1978 it has been a focal point for more than 2,000 people over the age of 50 in the greater Nashua area who depend on the center to support their independence, increase their social network, and improve their quality of life.

As a regional non-profit 501 [c] 3 charitable organization, the NSAC is supported through fundraising, grants, donations and members from the local community. Our mission is to support the improved health, well-being and independence of adults over 50 years of age through member benefits that include fitness, recreation, social networking, and  cultural and educational programs.

The Nashua Senior Activity Center offers more than 60 different programs each year at the center and at off-site locations.  In addition seniors have a fully equipped fitness room for their use. The center also has a lending library that has the most current literature available.  Partner organizations are also on site at the NSAC.  These organizations include Servicelink which provides additional resources to seniors in need, Home Instead Senior Care and St. Joseph Community Services which provides 400 meals per day to the Meals on Wheels program and offers onsite daily lunch Monday - Friday.

Members of the Nashua Senior Activity Center recognize the need to give back to the community by singing at local nursing homes, knitting hats for the American Cancer Society and making mittens for children in need.  More than 200 seniors volunteer their time doing mission critical work in support of the organizations goals.  Additionally,  the center operates an all volunteer Thrift Store open to the community offering bargain prices and making donations of clothes and household items to the Salvation Army and other charitable organizations.  Our Annual Talent Show and the Senior Picnic are hallmark events that have been held since the center's inception.  In addition, the Center has added " Fire and Fusion-An Executive Chef Competition" as its marquis fund raising event for the last several years.


Description:

The Office Manager works collaboratively with the Executive Director, Development Director and activities Director to ensure efficient operations. The diversity of this role requires involvement in many aspects of the organization and plays a key role as part of a small team. Computer proficiency is a cornerstone of the position. Responsible for targeted development and fundraising activities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain office efficiency by planning for and implanting office policies and procedures through process improvement activities.
  • Oversee all membership office activity. Supervise orientation and training of all membership office volunteers. Continually update manual and office procedures and practices for greater efficiency. Provide data regarding membership statistics including new and renewing members on a monthly basis.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for activities,all fundraising events, social events, classes, programs and sponsorships.
  • Serve as Secretary of Membership Committee: record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Manage the process involved in donor relations including maintenance of statistics. Responsible for tracking and acknowledging monetary and in-kind donations.
  • Design,edit and publish bi-monthly newsletter and manage distribution. Serve as point of contact for publisher.
  • Work with Development Director on and provide mailing lists of recipients for Annual Appeal
  • Schedule monthly and other reoccurring clinics, programs and classes including Sight Services for Independent Living; Reiki,Hearing Clinics, AARP Tax Preparation, AARP Smart Drivers, Home Health and Hospice Foot Care Clinics, and Medicare Open Enrollment Seminars.
  • Manage the fitness center and oversee the orientation of activities of members and maintenance of equipment
  • Manage procurement of all office supplies and maintain contacts on all small equipment
  • Apply for State of NH Racing and Charitable Gaming funding and assist in coordination of charitable gaming dates
  • Fire safety inspections - contract and schedule all safety inspections and coordinate inspection with City of Nashua                                                                      '
