Membership Director

Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting regional economic growth, advancing business-friendly public policies, and serving our members through outstanding programs, benefits, and services.  The Chamber of Commerce benefits businesses and organizations in Atkinson, Auburn, Chester, Derry, Hampstead, Londonderry, Sandown and Windham.  It also welcomes anyone interested in engaging in business and economic development in the southern NH region.

The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to supporting and encouraging the continued growth of each of our member companies together with the regional business community.

The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce seeks a Membership Director to recruit and retain Chamber members, oversee Chamber programs and events as assigned and complete related administrative items to assure the stability of the organization. Ideal candidate will be able to focus on several projects at once, handle administrative items and engage with members. This position is 35 hours per week.

Reports to: President of the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, both on the telephone and in person
  • Ability to generate and follow up on leads and schedule appointments.
  • Ability to work independently, determine priorities, make appropriate decisions, and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and overview of all Chamber member benefits, events, and activities.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under changing priorities and workloads while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a trustworthy manner.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to members, non-members, outside organizations and agencies, and the general public
  • Team player that will assist when needed outside the normal scope of responsibilities.

Hours and Compensation:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Some morning and evening hours required
  • Hourly pay ($17 - $21/hour) plus bonus structure
  • At least two years in sales or account management
  • At least two years volunteer management or membership experience desired.
  • At least two years marketing experience preferred.
  • Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills are a requirement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based systems.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation.
  • Knowledge of the greater Derry-Londonderry community is preferred.
  • Identify prospective members through community research, outreach and member referrals.
  • Meet with prospective members to provide information about Chamber membership.
  • Secure new Chamber members each month according to predetermined goals.
  • Manage and execute the Chamber’s new member welcome program.
  • Create, manage, and execute the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber member engagement and retention plan.
  • Facilitate invoicing for new or renewing members, including calling on / collecting past due or delinquent memberships
  • Develop and execute on-boarding process for new members.
  • Serve as staff liaison to and coordinate activities of Ambassador Committee.
  • Serve as staff liaison to and coordinate activities of Health & Wellness Committee
  • Contribute to organizational stability and growth through new members, membership retention and achieving annual budget goals.
  • Educate current and prospective members on other Chamber products and services, including advertising opportunities and member benefits and complete sales where applicable.
  • Design marketing pieces as needed for Chamber programs and other relevant items.
  • Attend and assist with all Chamber events.
  • Coordinate ribbon cuttings and other celebrations with new and existing members.
  • Coordinate Chamber 101 events.
  • Utilize existing and new Chamber platforms to increase member awareness and build relationships with other organizations in the community.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the President
