Cafe Food Program Coordinator

Upper Valley Haven

The Café Food Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning and preparation of all Café-based take-out meals for distribution and delivery to members of the community. The coordinator will focus on providing healthy, whole food that appeals to a variety of palates.

  • Experience preparing food in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Is confident and creative in working with food
  • Has experience managing volunteers and/or staff
  • Able to draw on strong management skills to run efficient operations
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a willingness to collaborate
  • Has flexibility and adapts easily to constantly changing circumstances
  • Works well independently yet knows how to seek and use help or support
  • ServSafe certification

This position plans and oversees the preparation of meals; manages volunteers; maintains the café kitchen, refrigerators and dining space in a safe, clean, and organized fashion; manages the supply inventory; and ensures the safe and efficient use of food.

The Café Coordinator is also responsible for managing the portioning of donated prepared food and food products while minimizing waste. For prepared food, this involves portioning and managing its safe distribution to on- and off-campus programs and partners. For donated food products, this involves monitoring backstock and rotating product on an as-needed basis.

In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, other food programs may emerge which could require the attention of the Café Coordinator.

This is a 20-hour per week position. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Pay is $18/hour.
