Finance Director

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire provides afterschool programs, summer day camps and basketball leagues to 2500 youth throughout the central New Hampshire area including Concord and Laconia areas. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who most need us, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We offer a safe place to belong, caring adult mentors and programs covering everything from academics and leadership development to physical fitness and healthy habits.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central NH is seeking a qualified candidate, to fill the role of a full-time Finance Director, who has organizational leadership, financial acumen, strategic business thinking, effective leadership and communication skills. In this role you will be a strategic partner, lead a staff of three and play an important role in supporting the overall mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central NH. Our ideal candidate enjoys working closely and collaboratively with others, excels at budget development and forecasting and appreciates the culture of the community.


-Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration.

-A minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience managing the accounting functions in a nonprofit agency, or equivalent experience.

-Strong accounting and financial management skills.

-Ability to promote excellent performance in self and others.

-Ability to solve problems independently, effectively, and creatively.

-Demonstrated attention to details.

-Ability to conduct research, study and evaluate data, and establish priorities, strategies, policies, and procedures.

-Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple high priority projects

All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage.   1. Reviews, updates and implements all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improves the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual. Updates and implements the necessary internal controls to balance business objectives and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  2. Supervises accounting staff on accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and rules for non-profits.
  3. Provides guidance to staff and leadership on accounting applications consistent with B&G strategy. Must have a strong technical and accounting systems foundation.
  4. Oversight and development of staff.

Strategic Planning

  1. Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to develop budgeting and forecasting process.
  2. Provides timely and complete reporting of financial statements for review, (including explanations for variance analysis) and prepares cash flow analysis. Includes monthly closing/reconciliations.

Resource Management

  1. Oversees project, program and grant accounting.
  2. Directs annual audit and 990 processes, serving as the principal liaison to the external auditor.
  3. Manages organizational cash flow.
  4. Maintains oversight of billing and collections process ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.
  5. Act as primary liaison with all banking and credit facilities to ensure compliance.
  6. Act as primary liaison with all insurance policies. Provide management with recommendations as appropriate.
  7. Administers endowment funds and investment portfolio.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
