Lead Childcare Teacher

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

General Description:

Provide a daily schedule of activities for play, meals, sleep, and toileting. Responsible for overall classroom management, health and safety of children in a childcare setting; implements Creative Curriculum in the classroom.


Education and or Experience:

  • Per NH Child Care Licensing requirements, must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 1,000 documented hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program
  • College courses totaling 18 credits in early childhood education, with three credits in human growth and development.
  • Interest and desire to interact and work with young children and adults.
  • Prior experience working with children and the commitment to continue training.
  • Reliable source of transportation, with insurance (100/300 liability minimum).
  • Computer Literate.
  • Current or able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Able to lift 25-40 lbs.
  • Greet parents at arrival and departure times.
  • Develop weekly lesson plans, both for the class as a whole, , as well as individualized plans, based on child assessment.
  • Write child progress reports, based on ongoing assessment and schedule individual parent conferences twice per year.
  • Participate in Center Open Houses and fund raising activities.
  • Implement monthly emergency practice drills.
  • Attend monthly Building Meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Implement the Creative Curriculum, the Project Approach, and other appropriate content.
  • Use on-line curriculum and child assessment system (preschool).
  • Keep complete and accurate records on the children.
  • Create and maintain an exciting classroom learning environment for children.
  • Participate in Building Meetings and staff training.
  • Help to orient and train parent volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Encourage parents to attend parent meetings and special events.
  • Report any problems to the Center Director.
  • Maintain and model good hygiene, appropriate dress (neat, clean and modest), and professional behavior to parents, staff and the community.
  • Maintain a positive and productive attitude regarding the Center and the CAP Agency when interacting both within the program and with the greater community.
  • Commitment to actively supporting Family Engagement and School Readiness.
