Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper

(SCS) is one of five community action agencies throughout New Hampshire, and part of the larger network of 70 agencies in New England and nearly 900 agencies nationwide. We have been serving the needs of our citizens since 1965 when President Lyndon Johnson waged his “War on Poverty.” Over the years our programs have evolved and expanded to keep pace with the constantly changing needs of our citizens. Responsible for cash management and accounts receivable for all activities within SCS and its related Limited Partnerships

Requirements:
  • Detail orientated: able to manage accounting for muliple bank accounts across both Excel and accounting software.
  • Able to prioritize:  able to rank and accomplish projects and tasks that have similar or identical due dates.
  • Exhibits teamwork and collaboration:  able to work in collaboration with all agency staff demonstrating effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Able to produce effective written communication:  able to clearly convey messages, ideas and expectations through written correspondence (letters, emails, etc.).
  • Exhibits leadership:  model positive attitude, supporting the Fiscal Team in meetings and team decisions.
  • Dependable: able to consistently fulfill commitments.
  • Quality-driven:  seeks to do a job correctly and is driven by being associated with doing high quality work.     
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Proficiency with financial software
  • Strong independent research ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Responsibilities:
  • Receives/collects and deposits all cash receipts for SCS and the related Limited Partnerships
  • Responsible for ACH draws for applicable tenant rents
  • Responsible for RDC processing and integrity per agreement with People's United Bank
  • Responsible for daily reconciliation and online banking activity
  • Provides credit cards/petty cash/misc. checking accounts
  • Obtains weekly LP balances for all properties; transfer/collect ACH funds for clearing account
  • Daily balances to CFO and weekly balances to CEO and CFO
  • Enters and Posts invoices and cash receipts to AR Module
  • Enters cash-related journal entries to general ledger module in accounting software
  • Enters tenant receipts for Limited Partnerships and SCS properties into limited partnership software
  • Corresponds with tenants when appropriate
  • Processes intercompany billing for agency insurance, communicating with NHHFA for reimbursement requests from SCS insurance reserves.
  • Maintains database of program grants, correspondence, deeds, legal docs, appraisals, etc.
