Humane Society for Greater Nashua

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HSFN) is a not for profit, community animal shelter with a staff of 22 people who, along with hundreds of volunteers, help care for and raise needed funds for the 3,000 + pets we care for annually. We provide for and protect abandoned, stray and owner released pets by connecting them with new families via adoption.  Each pet that enters the shelter will receive a full medical and behavioral evaluation, is spayed or neutered if needed, given needed vaccines and appropriate medical care.  During their stay all pets have a warm bed, toys, plenty of food, and lots of love andcare until they are adopted. The Humane Society for Greater Nashua, located in southern New Hampshire is looking for a Director of Community Engagement. 

This position is responsible for all community based marketing activities and relationships for the organization based on a formalized marketing and community engagement strategy.  The position promotes the organization within the community to ensure a broad base of fund raising resources.  This is a senior level position who will represent organizational interests at meetings, events, presentations, and other such activities as requested or required.  They will:

Give facility tours; write and distribute frequent press releases including weekly “Pets of the Week” which appear in many local papers free of charge; manage blog posts and have a cache of press releases on all programs we offer and set a monthly distribution list; handle all community events such as Have a Heart, Tag Days, Yard Sale, Yappy Hours etc, and any new ones implemented; manage all social media and create timeline of postings for regular communication on pets, organizational events and community engagement opportunities; write and post on line newsletter; add new donors to newsletter; work with Director of Volunteer Resources in partnership as needed and manage as assigned fundraising events and activities.

The salary is competitive, includes health, vision and dental, life insurance, Simple IRA, and continuing education. Option to purchase AFLAC coverage as supplemental benefits.
