(SCS) is one of five community action agencies throughout New Hampshire, and part of the larger network of 70 agencies in New England and nearly 900 agencies nationwide. We have been serving the needs of our citizens since 1965 when President Lyndon Johnson waged his “War on Poverty.” Over the years our programs have evolved and expanded to keep pace with the constantly changing needs of our citizens. Job Summary: This full-time position will assist the CEO in the performance of his or her duties, and will function as the principal administrative and support staff for the CEO and other program leadership staff on an as needed basis.



  • Detail Orientation:  Produces high quality work with few errors by being aware of and paying attention to the many pieces that make up the “whole” of a task or project.

  • Oral Communication:  Ability to clearly convey messages, ideas and expectations through the effective use of words, body language and voice tones.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration:  Ability to work with others to achieve common causes.
  • Written Communication:  Ability to clearly convey messages, ideas and expectations through the effective use of written correspondence (letters, emails, etc.).



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive office experience in a multi-tasking environment, preferably in the social services field.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with grant management and reporting in a nonprofit environment preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide clerical/administrative support to the CEO and other SCS leadership staff as needed.
  • Responsible for preparation of contracts and amendments for signature and processing, as needed.
  • Attend and coordinate senior staff and program director meetings, by completing agenda, recording and distribution meeting minutes and follow up action steps.
  • Attend other meetings when requested for the purpose of taking minutes and follow up notes.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate all aspects of the Board of Director meetings, including the preparation and advance distribution of the agenda, meeting packets, location set up,  preparation of meeting minutes, preparation and update of Board orientation and training documentation.
  • Coordinate, plan and schedule various meetings for the CEO, including NH CAP Directors meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate agency events, including determining location and providing for food and other needs.
