Lakes Region Mental Health Center

Lakes Region Mental Health Center (LRMHC) is the community mental health center serving Belknap and southern Grafton Counties. We provide services to 24 surrounding towns, and nearly 4,000 patients each year. A non-profit, private corporation founded in 1966, Lakes Region Mental Health Center is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors dedicated to our mission.  We provide integrated mental and physical health care to children, adults, elders and their families who are living with – and recovering from- mental illness and/or emotional distress. Our dedicated professionals provide the highest quality of healthcare and collaborate with many other organizations in the region to improve access to care and meet the mental health needs of the community. By working in partnership with other health care providers, hospitals, law enforcement, corrections, courts, school districts, social workers and public health officials, we are able to provide a continuum of care for our patients and improve the quality of life in the Lakes Region.

Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Coordinator, the Medical Assistant provides support to the medical provider through the process of completing various administrative and clinical duties and demonstrates the ability to maintain communication with various external and internal parties.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Demonstrates proficiency using computer applications, answering phones and greeting clients.
  • Triages calls from external and internal parties.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, families, staff and providers.
  • Proficient in scheduling clients for prescribers.
  • Prioritizes competing needs in a way that is most helpful to customers.
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills.


  • Demonstrates ability to take and document client vital signs and health history.
  • Monitors incoming laboratory and other medical reports.
  • Prepares clients for physical examination and assists provider with that exam.
  • Proficient in maintaining CLIA Laboratory policies. Able to draw blood.
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by the medical provider.
  • Authorizes prescription refills in accordance with agency procedure as directed.


  • Experience with an Electronic Health Record preferred.
  • A basic understanding of medications and medication administration is required.
  • An unencumbered NH driver’s license is required with personal auto insurance at a level commensurate with agency requirements.
  • Demonstrated skill in communication.
  • Travel between service sites is required.


  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program with certification.
  • BLS Certification.
