Seasonal Receptionist

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately; notifies company personnel of visitor arrival; maintains security and telecommunications system. This is a full-time 9-month position. 


High School diploma plus additional specialized training in social services or non-profit organizations or counseling.



  1. Individual will be the first point of contact for the client either in person or over the phone.
  2. Ability to maintain a cool calm and collected even when faced with a difficult customer.
  3. Answer the phone, schedule appointments, open and distribute mail, stamps all outgoing mail and files documents.
  4. Compose routine correspondence for staff.
  5. Help clients with filling out applications and required forms for variety of programs,
  6. Maintain food pantry and record-keeping requirements
  7. Assist with distribution of USDA commodity foods and donated food pantry items, including record-keeping requirements; prepare food bags/boxes for distribution to clients.
  8. Help carry donations into building and working with any office volunteers
  9. Monitoring public areas for cleanliness and order; clean when necessary
  10. Work with staff and clients as necessary to maintain a safe environment for all.
  11. Conduct yourself in a professional manner suitable for an office environment at all times
  12. Helps out where needed and other duties as they are assigned from time to time.
  13. Will be asked to work in other agency offices and/or work sites during fuel season as needed.
