Executive Director/Development

Belknap House

Belknap House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) providing emergency shelter for families in Belknap County. Belknap House’s mission is to provide families in Belknap County a safe shelter, when children are especially at risk during homelessness, and to empower families to become self-sufficient and independent by providing opportunities of education and resources available to them.  In addition to having shelter, families will be supported in accessing community resources to build their capacity to be self-sufficient and economically secure.  

Supports are provided using a strength-based, Two-Generation approach – an approach that enhances the well-being and life opportunities of both parents and children. Services provided to the families while at Belknap House include case management, ensuring incremental progress in finding housing and employment as well as connection to a variety of other community resources to address social service needs, medical care, mental health and basic needs; life skills education, including time management, money management, organization; and individual and family short-term coaching. 


Executive Director/Development: 

Seeking a candidate with management-level experience, particularly in grant writing, fundraising and donor relations. This position requires excellent communication and motivational skills and a drive to be part of our mission to help people experiencing homelessness to succeed. Previous work history with a non-profit required.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years of nonprofit management experience
  • Grant writing experience – heavy emphasis
  • Knowledge of fundraising/funding strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, and task facilitation
  • Ability to convey a vision of the organization’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift 25 pounds
Responsibilities:
  • Promote and advance mission of Belknap House
  • Research, write and manage grants – a mission critical component of this role
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations and local agencies
  • Strategic planning and implementation
  • Develop, perform, collaborate and supervise all organizational operations including fiscal, programming and personnel
  • Develop, coordinate and implement fundraising activities and other events
  • Work with Board of Directors and seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization
  • Oversee marketing and other communications efforts
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
