Teachers Assistant

~~Southwestern Community Services, Inc. (SCS) is one of five community action agencies throughout New Hampshire, and part of the larger network of 70 agencies in New England and nearly 900 agencies nationwide. We have been serving the needs of our citizens since 1965 when President Lyndon Johnson waged his “War on Poverty.” Over the years our programs have evolved and expanded to keep pace with the constantly changing needs of our citizens. We strive to stay in touch with the real needs of the people and find or develop programs that will best serve those needs. The Teacher Assistant under the supervision of the Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for preschool children in accordance with NH State Child Care Licensing Rules, Head Start Performance Standards and NAEYC Accreditation Standards. SCS Head Start Teachers will use and implement the Creative Curriculum to fidelity and the Pyramid Model to develop meaningful relationships with children and their families.


Associate Degree in ECE is required.

• Adhere to the Active Supervision Policy
• Maintain Confidentiality at all times
• Abide by NAEYC Code of Ethics
• Implements the Pyramid Model Framework
• Maintain the Classroom to all standards i.e.: NH State Child Care Licensing, Head Start Performance Standards, SCS Head Start Policy and Procedures and NAEYC Accreditation Standards
• Under the supervision of the Teacher provide ESI screening
• Attend Home Visits only when needed
• Participate in professional development
• Contribute to implementing Learning Prescriptions
• Know how to document work sampling observations
• Support collaborative parent teacher relationships
• Work collaboratively with all center staff and management team
• Keeps the classroom clean at all times
• Create Professional Development Plan
• Participate in weekly Staff Meetings
• Perform other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned
