Direct Service Coordinator

Starting Point: Services for Victims of Domestic & Sexual Violence is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring quality services are provided to victims of relationship violence and sexual abuse, preventing future relationship violence, promoting social change and encouraging accountability and education for perpetrators and stalkers.


Starting Point: Services for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence has an immediate opening for a full time Direct Service Coordinator.  The DSC oversees the agency’s direct service efforts in Carroll County; recruits and trains volunteers in order to expand the agency’s programming efforts; is responsible for networking and maintaining strong community relationships with hospitals, police, social service agencies, and other organizations; and performs advocacy/direct service work to clients. This is a full time, hourly position with full benefits.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service related field or two years of experience providing domestic violence direct services in a volunteer-based program.
  • Understanding and passion for the agency’s mission.
  • Demonstrated direct service/advocacy experience with domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking.
  • Ability to effectively lead, develop, and motivate employees and volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, volunteers, clients, donors, and all other outside contacts. 
  • Ability to speak compellingly about the agency’s work before groups of clients, employees, volunteers, and donors.
  • Flexible working hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of adequate auto insurance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • 30 hours of training in accordance with NH RSA 173C: Confidential Communications Between Victims and Counselors preferred; May complete this training upon hire.
Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Recruits and trains volunteers; expands programming volunteer network in Carroll County; and ensures volunteers are provided required training.
  • Provides day to day oversight of assigned programs; monitors the quality and effectiveness of programs and identifies strategies for enhancement; ensures all programs are compliant with standards set by NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.
  • Performs community outreach activities as assigned by Executive Director.
  • Performs advocacy/direct service work including crisis intervention, follow up support, hospital, police, and child advocacy center accompaniment when necessary.
  • Serves as the 24/7 staff back up on Starting Point’s support line and provides on-call support line and volunteer back up on a rotating basis.
  • Supervises 2-3 staff members including the Family Violence Prevention Specialist and Direct Service Advocate; Supervises staff in accordance with Starting Point policies and procedures.
  • Works from both the Conway and Wolfeboro offices, with occasional travel to Concord.
  • Directly supports the mission, strategic plan, goals and objectives of Starting Point.

All other duties as needed or as assigned by the Executive Director.

Starting Point: Services for Victims of Domestic & Sexual Violence, located in the White Mountains of NH, is a non-profit agency providing services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, including human trafficking, in Carroll County, NH. It is the only domestic violence shelter in Carroll County NH and only one of 12 domestic violence shelters in the entire state. Starting Point often receives clients from outside its catchment area when the victims are not safe in their local shelters or when other shelters are full and victims are in imminent danger.  Since its inception in 1981, Starting Point has served an average of 600 clients each year. With advocacy, Starting Point’s clients are able to develop a network of supports and the skills and finances to live independently and transition to a life without violence.
