Executive Director

Marguerite's Place

Marguerite’s Place Inc., a Nashua non-profit organization established in 1994 by the Grey Nuns, provides transitional housing and supportive services program with a licensed onsite childcare center. It offers a holistic approach that provides for the physical, emotional, educational and social supports that are needed for homeless women with children to achieve and sustain self-sufficiency. Furnished apartments are provided for up to two years along with case management and child care. Graduates may transition to permanent housing through MP Housing, a separate organization operated by Marguerite's Place.

The Executive Director acts as the Chief Executive Officer of Marguerite’s Place and MP Housing and is responsible for the overall leadership, management and direction of the organization in accordance with its vision and mission The Executive Director works under the general oversight of the Board of Directors This is a full-time exempt position.


• Bachelor’s degree, Master's preferred, from an accredited college or university with concentration in Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or equivalent
• 3-5 years senior nonprofit management experience
• Understanding of and experience with capacity-building programs
• Experience working with a board of directors
• Financial management experience
• Proven expertise in the following areas: administration, strategic planning, board development, personnel, grant writing, budgeting, fundraising, community relations, and understanding of financial accounting principles
• Respect for and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of the homeless population.

Overall Responsibilities
• Provide a collegial, cooperative environment where staff and clients are able to carry out the objectives of the agency.
• Provide and support enriching experiences for homeless women and their children.
• Work with the Board and community to carry out and promote the mission of Marguerite’s Place and MP Housing.
• Develop programs which reflect the needs of the community and the goals of the agency.
• Provide sound fiscal management.
• Build and expand community relationships that expand opportunities for clients and staff.
• Maintain awareness of current research and trends in housing, domestic violence, drug and alcohol treatment and recovery, mental illness, child development, and treatment of trauma.
Specific Duties:

1. Board of Directors - build positive relationships with Board members; maintain regular communication with the Board. Build board engagement, manage committees, strategic planning, self-assessment and membership.
2. Finance Management - manage all fiscal aspects of the agency including legal compliance, audits, reports to the Board, compliance with grants and donors requirements; ensure proper stewardship of finances; manage effective and automated financial systems.
3. Fundraising Management - oversee and support fundraising efforts including grants, special events, major gifts, corporate and personal donations, annual appeal and web donations Provide leadership to the Board in fundraising.
4. Human Resources - implement approved human resource policies; supervise, evaluate and support staff; promote professional growth, leadership, decision-making, innovation and community involvement for staff.
5. Organization Management – provide overall management; ensure that programs meet legal requirements; negotiate and approve contracts. Ensure maintenance of facilities.
6. Community Involvement – maintain involvement in the community, particularly with agencies that expand offerings to Marguerite’s Place clients; ensure effective marketing and promotion, and serve as the lead spokesperson for the agency.
7. Volunteers – nurture relationships with volunteers and donors.
