Bridges: Domestic & Sexual Violence Support Services

Bridges: Domestic & Sexual Violence Support provides Crisis Advocacy and Support to Primary and Secondary Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Stalking in the Greater Nashua Area. Our Mission is to cultivate communites free from violence as we support victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on our Support Line and also during the day in our Nashua, NH and Milford, NH offices. We also have an emergency shelter and now provide transitional housing to women and children who do not meet the criteria of other housing programs.

The Housing First Advocate will assist families experiencing domestic violence in obtaining safe, permanent housing in their communities.

1. High shool equivalency or relevent work experience.

2. Must have effective communication skills.

3. Must have the ability to complete job requirements with minimum supervision.

4. Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.

  • Identify housing resources in the community.
  • Build relationships with landlords, public housing authorities, local welfare officials and community programs.
  • Assist families with establishing financial goals and financial planning toward the ultimate goal of obtaining permanent housing.
  • Assist families with collateral needs related to locating safe and permanet housing, including job readiness, life skills development and securing child care.
  • Assist families seeking permanent housing in completing housing applications.
  • Facilitate agreement between families seeking permanent housing and landlords.
  • Assist families who obtain permanent housing in signing up for utilities.
  • Prepair and submit documentation for families seeking flexible funding from the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence (NHCADSV)
  • Provide finanical literacy training to individuals receiving services at Bridges.
  • Educate community members on the dynamic of domestic violence and the need for community supports to ensure victims' success in creating safe lives for themselves and their children.
  • Attend agency staff meetings, in-service trainings and Coalition-facilitated meetings for Housing First advocates statewide.
  • Comply with data collecitons and record-keeping requirements.
  • Intervene appropriately and advocate on behalf of individuals from different cultures.
  • Promote the agency's mission.
  • Participate in on-call back up rotation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
