World Affairs Council Names Two Board Members

Manchester- The World Affairs Council of New Hampshire has announced the election of two new members to its Board of Directors: Gail Garceau, a Bedford resident and President of the HNH Foundation; and Dawn Wivell, CEO of Firebrand International, a resident of Portsmouth.

Gail Garceau is currently President of the HNH Foundation which improves the health and wellness of New Hampshire’s population with a focus on its most vulnerable children. Previous positions include General Manager of Well Sense Health Plan; President and CEO of the former New Hampshire Healthy Kids Corporation; and CEO of the Heritage United Way. Gail devotes much of her work towards promoting legislative and regulatory policies in order to support a healthy community that also addresses the well-being of children. She serves on boards and committees of many organizations including the Bellweather Community Credit Union, Child & Family Services, Independent Services Network and YWCA NH.

Dawn Wivell has vast experience in international relations, serving currently as CEO of Firebrand International, a firm that offers international business development services by helping companies strategize and implement global marketing strategies. She works with a wide range of clients, including those in the green tech, aeronautics, agriculture, biomedical and economic development industries. Her areas of specialty include international business, export strategies, development and marketing, cross-cultural negotiations, and international relationship management. She is also currently the Consortium Manager of the New Hampshire Aerospace and Defense Export Consortium and her past roles include the director of the New Hampshire International Trade Resource Center, where she served for more than 20 years. In 2014, the Council honored Dawn as a recipient of the Global Leadership Award for her leadership in promoting New Hampshire’s international knowledge and understanding and expanding its global connections.

The Council is preparing the Granite State for a global future by creating and sustaining international connections that enhance our state's cultural, economic and civic life; building global knowledge and understanding through educational programs for communities and schools on foreign policy; and furthering the development of international leaders in partnership with the U.S. State Department. The Council was named the 2014 “Agent of Change” by New Hampshire magazine.
