Makin' It Happen, the lead prevention agency for the Greater Manchester Regional Public Health Network (GMR PHN) in partnership with the Manchester Health Department and in collaboration with the New Hampshire Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services (BDAS)  is committed to the development of a Substance Use Disorder Continue of Care team which will lead the regional efforts in creating a sustainable Continuum of Care initiative. This Continuum will offer a full spectrum of substance misuse prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery support services that are intergrated with health care and behavioral health.

Makin’ It Happen – Youth Wellness & Prevention, Manager

 

The Youth Wellness and Prevention Manager position is focused on the development and coordination of our Youth Wellness and Prevention initiative, including communication, expanding partnerships, grant objective elements, and awareness activities. The Youth Wellness & Prevention Manager efforts should all be designed to engage, educate and empower the development of healthy, thriving youth, families and communities.

 

Responsibilities include ensuring Makin’ It Happen’s mission, vision and values are consistently considered and infused in all elements of the development of Youth Wellness and Prevention initiative. 

 

Makin’ It Happen’s goal is to lead the development of a prevention-based, whole health-equity infused strategic plan designed to encourage collaboration, and instill consistent support for the youth, families and communities within the Greater Manchester region. The greater Manchester region includes the following types of communities: Urban: Manchester, Suburban: Bedford, Goffstown and Hooksett, and Rural: Auburn, Candia, Deerfield and New Boston.

 

General responsibilities: Lead the development and continued refinement of a Youth Wellness and Prevention initiative, with a special focus on further development of the collaborative. Develop and strengthen partner agency relationships, expanding both the youth wellness core partners and the sphere of influence partnership.

 

Work with youth and youth leaders to coordinate learning, leadership, and mentoring opportunities. Promote positive, healthy living through building prevention awareness and supporting federal, state and local prevention awareness campaigns and initiatives.

 

Working in collaboration with our Marketing and Communications Manager, create a communication approach designed to engage partners in the continued development of the Youth Wellness and Prevention initiative. Expand our ability to highlight the importance of positive living for/and among our youth/young people.

 

Assist with communication (social media) efforts as needed/assigned

  • Demonstrated skill in Microsoft office suite, Canva, adobe
  • Proficient utilizing zoom, constant contact

Assist with community impact events as needed/assigned

  • Experience working with youth, young people and youth serving organizations
  • Community event experience

Expand professional development with a goal of maintaining/obtaining NH Prevention Specialist Certification

  • Open to learning new skills/trainings

Assist with select training and presentation opportunities in collaboration with the Resiliency Essentials, and Recovery Ready Communities staff

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to adapt to different environments and work with different sectors of the population (youth, families, communities, business, education, health, safety/law enforcement)

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, public health or community development/organizing or,
  • Bachelor of Arts in any of the about with two-three years’ experience within a public health/prevention system
  • Social, public health system experience
  • Prevention/coalition experience
  • Certified Prevention specialist (or in the process of obtaining)

Position support:

Laptop + external file storage drive/office 365 account, Printer + supplies (paper/toner)

 

Salary and benefits:

  • This is a full-time, grant supported, salary-based position
  • Flexible in/remote office model, partner location meetings as well as remote working environment, and may require evening or weekend hours
  • Current salary pay range: $56,000.00- 60,000.00, set based on experience and length of service
  • Health care benefits are the responsibility of the employee.
  • MIH full holiday schedule applies to this position
  • Two weeks’ vacation - years 1-3 (available after 90-day new hire period is successfully completed)
  • This position is currently funded through 09.30.2028*
