About the Organization
MISSION
The mission of Hundred Nights, Inc. is to provide year-round, low-barrier emergency shelter and crisis-related services to individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness in southwestern New Hampshire. Our goal is to collaborate with the community to see, hear and support those among us who are equally deserving of dignity but who currently lack the means to live independently. Our vision is a community whose members, regardless of means, are equally valued and supported.
SERVICES
48-Bed Emergency Shelter
Hundred Nights provides year-round emergency shelter to those in crisis and accepts as many people in need as possible depending on available beds. Hundred Nights now provides up to 48 shelter beds per night on the second and third floors of its new facility at 122 Water Street in Keene, NH. Two women’s dorm rooms and four private family rooms are on one floor; men’s dorms are on a separate floor. Two overnight shelter supervisors, one per floor, stay awake through the night to ensure the safety and comfort of guests, while two other staff are asleep on those same floors if a need arises.
Kingsbury Resource Center
The Kingsbury Resource Center (KRC), located on the first floor of the new facility, is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. to guests and visitors seeking to warm up, have a meal, or get information about services and programs to help them retain or return to permanent housing. The center is staffed by managers who help clients gain access to basic needs, meals, and services provided by the shelter as well as to programs administered by local and state partners. The KRC has six computer workstations for guests to use to search for jobs and housing, or to participate in workshops.
The KRC is located next to several additional guest resources on the first floor: offices for case managers and counselors to meet privately with guests; a laundry room for guests and visitors to do personal laundry; a full kitchen to provide meals when The Community Kitchen isn’t open; and a donation room for clothing, cold weather gear, and personal care items.
