POSITION SUMMARY:
The 2-1-1 NH Resource Database Specialist applies problem solving and research skills to create, update, and maintain the 2-1-1 Resource Database. The 2-1-1 NH Resource Database contains not-for-profit, government, and for-profit resources that provide critical links between client needs and community services. The Resource Database Specialist will work closely with the Database Manager, 2-1-1 staff, and community partners and agencies to ensure listings within the 2-1-1 database are comprehensive and accurate. This will require responsiveness and persistence, as well as attention to detail. This position is also responsible for providing some training and support for users of the database as well as implementing strategic plans and applied research to complete day-to-day operations as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and maintain information for social service agencies offering programs and services across New Hampshire. Maintain the 2-1-1 database, ensuring the information is current, accurate, complete, and accessible.
- Connect with appropriate representatives that are qualified to speak on behalf of their organizations to obtain or clarify information regarding the organization, program details, contacts, and schedules.
- Serve as a trusted resource to agencies and other partners.
- Generate and communicate reports related to the databases and their use, as requested.
- Support outreach efforts to increase number and accuracy of listings in the 2-1-1 database.
- Support database users to retrieve information from the database.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Receive updates for and research new resources within the community and enter into the 2-1-1 NH Resource Database. Keeping seasonal and weather-related resource information current will be a priority.
- Establish, contact with, and obtain detailed information about the programs and services provided by human service organizations.
- Attend conferences and trainings to broaden knowledge base and network as appropriate.
- Create and maintain the taxonomy master list, keeping abreast of changes in the national taxonomy, communicating those changes to staff and other interested parties and evaluating database records with respect to these standards.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for staff concerns with the knowledge and judgement of when to escalate to outside vendor.
- Represent 2-1-1 NH to external agencies as a collaborative partner seeking to support their offerings.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Associate’s degree preferred. Strong computer skills required.
- Knowledge of community resources, information and referral process, and social services is preferred.
- Currently hold or ability to obtain AIRS Resource Specialist Certification (CRS).
ENVIRONMENT:
Hybrid work environment. The venue is in Manchester, NH and is a general office environment that is clean, well-lighted, environmentally comfortable, free of fumes or airborne particles, and only minimally exposes employees to office solvents limited to those relative to copier equipment.
This position requires the ability to:
- Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required.
- Hand manipulation - equipment and controls, frequent; grasping and handling, occasional.
- Ability to periodically travel within the state required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include occasional nights and weekends.
- Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing and to lift to approximately 50 pounds to waist high level whenever necessary.
- Mobility includes regular sitting, some standing and walking.
