Program Manager
Keene State College
Reporting to the Director of the Cohen Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, the Program Manager is fully responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of certain programs housed at the Institute. The Program Manager manages the planning of annual domestic and international study tours, designs and implements the Youth Leadership Institute, works to expand the Institute’s online presence (through the livestreaming of existing events, the creation of virtual seminars and digital resources, website upkeep, and more), and is responsible for recruitment and marketing as related to these programs. The Program Manager also plays a key role in fundraising and donor cultivation to ensure the short- and long-term viability of the Institute’s programs. Other duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities
Program Design and Management (35%)
- Under the supervision of the Director, designs and manages high-impact programs that are aligned with existing and emerging best practices in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and/or the Institute’s peer institutions.
- Designs annual domestic and international study tours, which are experiential learning opportunities at museums and other sites geared towards students, community members, and/or other participants.
- Plans group travel itineraries and arranges bookings; Works with USNH Legal Counsel, the KSC Global Engagement Office, travel agencies, faculty trip leaders, and other groups/offices to ensure that trips are compliant with USNH rules and policies and designed to maximize learning.
- Responsible for marketing and recruiting participants for study tours and other assigned programs; Serves as the Institute’s primary contact for program participants, responding to questions and inquiries in a helpful and timely fashion.
- Designs and implements program assessment to ensure that programs are high-impact, financially viable, and aligned with the Institute’s strategic plan.
- Management and implementation of other programs and projects to be added over time as aligned with donor funding agreements and the Institute’s timeline for scaling up to full operations. For example, design and marketing of the Youth Leadership Institute will take place during the 2025-2026 academic year in time for the YLI’s launch in July 2026.
- Partners regularly with community organizations, on-campus offices, and others. May be asked by Director to serve as first point of contact for community members and other people interested in partnering with the Institute on an event or program.
Event Management and Support (30%)
- Assists the Director and the Senior Program Support Assistant with the organizing and implementation of annual events such as the Holocaust Memorial Lecture.
- Under supervision of Director, designs and implements hybrid or virtual events aligned with the Institute’s year-long theme. Creates scaffolding events for the annual Genocide Awareness Lecture.
- Serves as a liaison between the Institute and Advancement Services in creating event registration and ticketing systems, tracking and managing sponsorships (if applicable), and other tasks existing at the intersection of these offices.
- Serves as a liaison between the Institute and KSC Marketing and Communications (and other offices as appropriate) in creating marketing strategies and materials; Promotes events and programs on campus and beyond.
- Creates flyers and graphics (e.g., for Instagram, Facebook, digital screens across campus) for the Institute with Director’s input, especially content related to offerings and programs.
- Expands and strengthens the Institute’s reach by coordinating high-quality filming, photography, and/or livestreaming of in-person events. This may be done in conjunction with the KSC photographer, the Department of Journalism, or others.
- Supervises KSC student volunteers or interns who are supporting Institute programs and events (if assigned by Director).
Fundraising Support (25%)
- Assists Director with fundraising and donor cultivation; Serves as a liaison to the KSC Offices of Advancement, Development, and Donor/Alumni Relations.
- Writes and prepares grant proposals to support the Institute’s mission and strategic plan.
- Works in collaboration with the Advancement department to coordinate all fundraising appeals, Keene State Today CCHGS/HGS magazine submissions, and digital “Hoot” newsletter stories.
- In collaboration with Director and Advancement, solicits low- to mid-level gifts to support the Institute.
- Helps solicit event sponsorships for fundraising events specific to the Institute.
Professional Development and Service (10%)
- Attends professional development trainings on best practices in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and/or conducts research pertaining to emerging trends at peer institutions (planned strategically in conjunction with the Director).
- Participates in trainings on digital technologies and tools, social media platforms, and more.
- Engaged member of the campus community, serving on campus committees or working groups as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
- Acceptable Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor’s
- Acceptable Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
Required Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid Drivers License and Safe Driving Record
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience in work related to administering educational programs.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team.
- Previous success managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
- Proven success with fundraising and donor cultivation.
- Demonstrated experience managing group travel and event arrangements (preferably in an educational context).
- Competency in current computer technologies (such as Microsoft 365, Zoom, Adobe, etc.).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working with diverse groups and stakeholders.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel for work on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a college/university work environment
- Educational background or work experience related to Holocaust and Genocide Studies or a related field
- Master’s degree
- Experience designing online programs, events, or digital tools/resources
- Ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the Institute

This position is full time (1.0 FTE). Salary is commensurate with experience and complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. This position is part of the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA).
