Paraeducator
About the Job
Para-Educators are assigned throughout the Manchester School District, from preschool to high school levels, including pre-vocational and vocational levels. The majority of assignments include assisting students with disabilities and assisting in self-care of students. Some Para-Educators are assigned to work in vocational settings. The nature of the work requires that the employee establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and other employees.
- Para-Educator I: Minimum of a high school diploma. $17.00/hr
- Para-Educator II: Completion of two years of study (48 credits) at an institution of higher education or Associates Degree or higher. $17.50/hr
- Experience with children and adolescents in an educational setting.
- Must have ability to instruct students in mathematics, reading, science, social studies, art, and/or related subjects.
Behavior Support Technician (BST): $18.50/hr
- Non-Title 1 Schools will require High School Diploma or Title 1 Schools will require 48 college credits, DOE certification or portfolio;
- Experience with children and adolescents in an educational setting;
- Must have ability to carry out a specially designed behavioral intervention plan for students with complex, physical, emotional, social and/or cognitive needs;
- Must be willing to successfully complete a 40-hour RBT training program over the course of several months or a portfolio of similar training approved by district office.
- Must be willing to successfully complete CPI training and certification.
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT): $30.00/hr
- Non-Title 1 Schools will require High School Diploma or Title 1 Schools will require 48 college credits, DOE certification or portfolio;
- Has met all requirements outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and holds a valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification issued by the BACB.
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with behavioral challenges, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of behavior analysis principles and applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with school staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Current certificate in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or equivalent training or willingness to obtain through the District.
Compensation: Para I: $17.00/hr, Para II: $17.50/hr, BST: $18.50/hr, RBT: $30.00/hr
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is an affiliated (AFSCME) position under the Para-Educators negotiated contract, following the school calendar, with 6-8 hours per day, 30-40 hours per week.
