Description

Job Summary:

Lead and direct the HSS programs and staff in both Cheshire and Sullivan counties to achieve the department's mission. Ensure that funding is secured to accomplish all program objectives. Monitor all local, state and federal guidelines to ensure that they are being met by all the programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Designs and implements systems to provide efficient operation of all HSS programs
  • Works with staff, advisory groups, potential and former clients to identify needs and develops integrated plans with budgets and timelines for accomplishing future goals
  • Publicizes and endorses programs throughout the communities served
  • Works closely with program management to ensure SCS policies and procedures are followed in a manner consistent with the organization's mission, values and culture
  • Participates in the hiring of new employees and oversees the orientation and training of all assigned staff
  • Works with Housing Stabilization Assistant Director on staff performance reviews and assures all processes are completed including evaluations and progressive discipline according to SCS Human Resource policies and practices
  • Provides in-service or continuing education to develop the skills of staff and to comply with applicable standards
  • Develops sources and identifies funding opportunities for grant proposals
  • Develops operating and capital budgets based on program requirements, funding source guidelines and in collaboration with SCS Fiscal staff
  • Communicates budget information to staff and engages them in containing costs and eliminating waste

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Management or equivalent in education and experience
  • 2 years management experience
  • 2 years human service experience
  • Experience in crisis management
  • Valid NH Drivers License
  • Proof of car insurance

Housing Stabilization Program Director

Southwestern Community Services, Inc. (SCS) is a Community Action Agency that has served both Cheshire & Sullivan Counties in New Hampshire for over 50 years. SCS strives to empower employees, along with the communities we serve, to support their growth and development. SCS’ main campus is located in the beautiful city of Keene, NH.

SCS is seeking an independent & focused Housing Stabilization Services’ Program Director to oversee our Housing Stabilization Services department in both Cheshire and Sullivan Counties.  This includes the oversight of shelter facilities, supportive housing facilities, assistance programs, contracts, budgets, and compliance.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, located in the Keene office, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The position may include some travel as well as non-traditional hours, as needed.

This position requires experience with budget and grant management, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others, communicate professionally, and work independently.  The ability to manage multiple projects while building and maintaining professional relationships with community partners are also key to the success of the position.
