About the Job

Description

Reporting to the Communication Director, the Grant Writer is responsible for administering the entire life cycle of the grant writing process.  This includes networking with community organizations that fund grants, researching and documenting grant sources, preparing and submitting successful grant proposals for the Agency, as well as providing appropriate updates to funders as required. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Director of Donor Relations, Director of Business Development and other team members to develop and execute a grant strategy.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  2. Exceptional writing and editing skills
  3. Organizational and project management experience
  4. Ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment
  5. A minimum of two years of grant-writing experience required
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive/Apps, as well as Adobe.

  • Responsible for establishing relationships and collaborating with funders on available grants.
  • Responsible for the full life cycle of a grant to include prospect identification, pre-proposal strategy and materials, RFP evaluation and mission alignment, content development, proposal writing, and supporting documentation (budgets, timelines, other Agency documentation).
  • Maintains accurate records of grant opportunities and status of applications.  
  • Researches grant-making entities and composes funder profiles.
  • Maintains a sound knowledge of the Agency’s mission, programs, target population and strategic vision.
  • Works with appropriate team members to strategize and follow through with grant opportunities.
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement annual plans for the cultivation and solicitation of foundation donors and prospects.
  • Maintains a calendar and/or tracker of all submissions, renewals, reports and funding projected and received.
  • Drafts grant templates to streamline work processes.
  • Monitors program compliance for continuity as related to contract/grant administration.
  • Responsible for town appropriations and attendance and participation, as appropriate, at town meetings where funding is discussed. Some evening meeting attendance required.

Other Job Functions

  • Create efficiencies to simplify the grant writing process
  • Monitor specified grant record retention protocols
  • Demonstrates flexibility in the role by accepting other duties as assigned for which qualified

Expected Hours of Work

The employee will be scheduled to work Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. However, occasional evening, weekend or holiday work hours maybe needed based on Agency needs.
