Position Announcement – Event and Community Engagement Manager
Community Action Partnership of Strafford County (CAPSC) located in Dover, New Hampshire, is hiring an Event and Community Engagement Manger.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Event and Community Engagement Manager joins the four-person Advancement team and plays a vital role in the planning and implementation of annual fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will work directly with existing donors and volunteers, as well as forge new relationships to build CAPSC's visibility, impact, and financial resources. This position will work closely with the CAO in an active fundraising role as well as with other CAPSC staff to support their programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Donor Relations
- With CAO, implement and manage a comprehensive program that includes direct mail/email appeals, annual and monthly giving programs, foundation giving, corporate support, municipal funding, in-kind donations, and special events
- Lead all aspects of planning for our major events, donor cultivation, and stewardship activities.
- Strategize methods to motivate event attendees to become individual donors and volunteers.
- Research to identify and cultivate individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations and helps to expand the donor base and diversity funding sources.
- In-Kind Donations
- Communicate with potential donors regarding items to be donated, as well as planned delivery of said items
- Exercise discretion regarding acceptance (or rejection) of donated goods
- Maintain donation paperwork and policies and procedures for accepting donations and trains agency staff on the policies and procedures.
- Meet regularly with program managers to review and assess in-kind needs.
- Act as liaison between the agency and the community for in-kind needs.
- Volunteer Management
- Complete the recruiting, screening, and placement of new volunteers.
- Develop and conducts orientation for volunteers on an ongoing basis.
- Oversee and manage volunteer tracking procedures and train agency staff/program managers to ensure compliance.
- Meet regularly with program managers to review and assess volunteer needs.
- Partner with HR to ensure appropriate background checks are conducted, as dictated by programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three-plus years of progressive development experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in growing philanthropic revenue year over year
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with donors, fundraising volunteers, corporations, and foundations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
- Goal and action-oriented and able to take the initiative without close supervision
- Comfortable being a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside CAPSC
- High energy and passion for CAPSC's mission is essential
- Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual plans for direct appeals, events, and annual grant writing
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

Salary and Benefits
CAPSC is an EEO employer. The range for this position is $62,000 to $65,000 annually.
