About the Organization

The Boys & Girls Club of Manchester is a 100+ year old private non-profit organization with our mission being to reach out to all young people ages 6-18 years, with special concern given to kids who needs us most, providing programs and services that enable our members to become productive, responsible and caring individuals. We currently offer programs at 3 sites during the school year and a Day Camp program during the out of school summer months. We have an annual membership of between 1500 and 2000 boys and girls with an average daily attendance of approximately 450 members during the school year and 350 campers during the Summer Day Camp Program. We offer a wide variety of programs in five core areas with a special focus on academic achievement, healthy lifestyles and character & leadership development.

For over a century, the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester has been inspiring, encouraging, challenging, and creating opportunities for kids throughout the Manchester community. Guided by our mission, we seek leaders and innovators to join our team to reach out to all youth, especially those who need us most, inspiring them to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring individuals. 

We are looking for someone to help us continue to make a meaningful impact in our community through dynamic marketing and communication. The right individual will oversee and implement all internal and external organizational marketing materials to donors, Board members, Club members, Club families, and the public in general.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Produce and provide leadership and direction on creating, maintaining, implementing, and distributing all marketing and public relations materials while ensuring consistency of brand messaging. Materials include but are not limited to agency newsletters/flyers (digital and print), program-related flyers, press releases, annual reports, event materials, Club website, and social media platforms. 
  • Help develop and implement the agency's marketing and public relations plan.
  • Oversee the implementation of special events and other public and private initiatives to increase the visibility of the Club's programs, services, activities, and impact, maintaining positive brand awareness. 
  • As necessary, maintain internal contact with the Board of Directors, Trustees, Club staff, volunteers, and Club members.
  • Serve as a positive role model to our Club members, inspiring them to realize their full potential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and bachelor's degree in Marketing or communications-related discipline preferred and 1-3 years’ experience in marketing and public relations with direct program experience, supervision of staff, preferably with Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development operation. Experience may be substituted for a lesser educational degree.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Pro, Canva, and other graphic design software and online meeting and event platforms.
  • Photography skills to aid in media materials promoting the Club.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations, resource development activities, and funding sources.
  • Experience in event management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, Club staff, subordinates, community groups, vendors, and other related agencies.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check.
