Description

PMAC (Portsmouth Music and Arts Center) is seeking a dynamic and experienced full-time Director of Development to lead all fundraising efforts and grow our development program in accordance with our 2028 strategic plan. As a member of the PMAC leadership team, the Director of Development will report to the CEO and work closely with the Director of Marketing, COO, and Board of Directors to execute the organization’s development plan. The candidate should possess strong people and project management skills, be self-motivated, organized, and embrace creativity. The ideal individual will be available to work both remote and onsite (hybrid) at our Portsmouth location on Islington Street.

PMAC is celebrating twenty years of building community through the arts. The school employs more than thirty professional musicians and visual artists and serves more than 800 students annually. Following a year of development capacity work with a nonprofit consulting firm, PMAC is positioned to grow its team and is looking for the right individual to lead our development efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates annual Development Plan, in partnership CEO
  • Execute all elements of PMAC’s Development Plan
  • Cultivate and steward ongoing relationships with major donors, including the development and implementation of a new planned giving program
  • Manage all aspects of PMAC’s Annual Appeal
  • Work with the CEO and Director of Marketing to develop and execute donor and sponsor solicitation materials
  • Secure sponsorships and corporate partnerships for programs and events
  • Receive donations, provide timely acknowledgements, and manage the donor database (Bloomerang)
  • Manage all aspects of grant funding, including writing proposals, tracking grant-funded projects, and completing interim and final reports to funders
  • Serve as staff liaison for the Development and Events Committees
  • Work with the leadership team on the creation of PMAC’s Annual Report

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years experience in development, nonprofits, or other comparable positions.
  • Proactive team member with an established track record of success. Experience in the development and implementation of a broad-based fundraising program including donor cultivation and major gifts is a plus.
  • Experience and expertise in fundraising in an arts environment and knowledge of the funding community of the New Hampshire Seacoast area is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate possesses strong communication and project management skills. 
  • Experienced in Google Suite Applications, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Bloomerang development software is a plus. Must be comfortable navigating computers and using new programs including but not limited to industry-specific software.
  • Must have a strong interest in supporting the mission and success of a community arts school.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $70,000-$75,000/year
