NH Community Mental Health Centers Reach Payment Reform Agreement

The NH Community Behavioral Health Association today announced that nine of NH’s community mental health centers have reached a contract agreement with Beacon Health Strategies, the behavioral health management partner for Well Sense Health Plan, one of two managed care organizations contracted with the State of New Hampshire to administer aspects of the Medicaid system.  The agreement marks an historic shift in health care reimbursement, as it moves away from a fee for service payment model to a new payment structure focused more on patient specific needs.

Grant to NH Audubon to Support Bat Survey Project

There is great concern in the Northeast about the significant drop in local bat populations due to White-nose Syndrome (WNS). Little brown bats have declined by 99% in New Hampshire due to WNS and more information is needed to assess the population of all eight bat species in the state.

NH Audubon Centennial Gala and Auction Raises Over $44,000 for Conservation and Education

New Hampshire Audubon (NHA) celebrated the grand finale of its centennial year with a sell-out crowd at a festive gala, which raised more than $44,000 to support the nonprofit organization’s local conservation and education efforts. The gala, held Saturday, November 8, 2014, was themed Soaring into the Next Century, and was enjoyed by more than 140 friends and supporters at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester.

Dr. Yvonne Goldsberry Joins Endowment for Health as Vice President for Programs

The Endowment for Health is pleased to welcome Yvonne Goldsberry, PhD, MPH, MSUP, as the foundation’s Vice President for Programs.  For more than a decade, Dr. Goldsberry has been engaged in New Hampshire’s public and private sector health environments.  She brings more than 25 years of experience in health policy and planning, as well as strong knowledge of the major social and economic influences on the health of vulnerable populations.  Dr. Goldsberry will be joining the Endowment in early December.

Families First Grateful for Portsmouth Hospital’s Support

Portsmouth Regional Hospital has added a new dimension to its longstanding support of Families First Health and Support Center, earmarking $60,000 of the $222,000 it will donate to Families First this year to subsidize three dental programs. The money will help Families First expand access to dental care for senior citizens and also maintain its mobile dental program and school-based dental program.

Monadnock United Way and FamilyWize Team Up

With the ongoing increase in efforts to effectively address mental health in communities across the country, Monadnock United Way and the FamilyWize Community Service Partnership have teamed together to provide a solution for the community. Local residents have saved $70,590 on mental health prescription medications they might not have been able to afford otherwise, thanks to a partnership between the two organizations.
