Office Assistant

Mayhew Program

The Mayhew Program challenges and helps at-risk New Hampshire boys to believe in themselves, work well with others, and find their best. 

Mayhew provides boys with eight years of support through a residential summer program, school year mentoring, employment opportunities, and one-on-one goal planning to ensure they graduate from high school and establish a plan to lead successful lives. Mayhew is the only program in New Hampshire that provides this level of support on a tuition-free basis. 


Mayhew, a dynamic, successful, and award-winning organization serving at-risk New Hampshire youth, is seeking a part-time Office Assistant to assist with and complete important administrative and fundraising responsibilities. 

The position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) and based in Bristol, NH.  The position calls for an upbeat, team-oriented individual and flexible scheduling for occasional evening, early morning and/or weekend events. 

The Office Assistant reports to the Executive Director.

Requirements:
  • Be team-oriented and exude warmth and professionalism in interacting with program families, trustees, contributors, volunteers and others. 
  • Strong skills and/or ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Little Green Light donor database and other programs as needed. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and to work independently with little supervision.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate production and mailing of appeal letters.  Proofread correspondence, perform mail merge, and manage mailing. 
  • Update electronic donor records.  Input new donors, enter contributions, update research, and enter contact reports. 
  • Assist with special events.  Maintain guest lists, assist with preparation of event materials, and assist with facilitation of events. 
  • Assist with creation of queries and reports. 
  • Assist with stories for written and electronic publications.  Proofread correspondence and reports. 
  • Facilitate Mayhew’s “Postcard Pals” program throughout the summer. 
  • Sort summer mail from the program boys and their parents. 
  • Provide administrative support for the board and committees. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
