CVTC Names Ellen Avery Executive Director

Ken Geraghty, Chair of the Board of Directors announces the appointment of Ellen Avery as Executive Director for the Contoocook Valley Transportation Company (CVTC). She will lead the organization in advancing its two flagship services, the Volunteer Driver Program and Monadnock Rideshare.

BJ’s Charitable Foundation supports Families First’s Well-Child Program

Portsmouth – BJ’s Charitable Foundation recently donated $6,000 to support the Well-Child Program at Families First Health and Support Center.   The program includes preventive exams, screenings and immunizations provided to children at recommended intervals depending on the child’s age. In addition to medical care provided by a pediatric nurse practitioner, patients also have access, on-site, to screenings by a child-development specialist, nutrition counseling and dental care, as well as home visiting. Families First served more than 800 pediatric patients last year.

West High School to Benefit from Gift of Computers from St. Mary’s Bank

Manchester – St. Mary’s Bank partnered with Computer Technology Assistance Corps (CTAC) to donate 12 refurbished personal computers to Manchester West High School.  The nation’s first credit union donated the used PC’s, and CTAC installed refurbished hard drives and installed Windows 7 on each computer.

NH Charitable Foundation Announces Grants to Support 14 Projects

Concord – The projects receiving grants were selected by a 12-person advisory committee that includes representatives of environmental organizations, state and federal agencies, local community groups and TransCanada Hydro Northeast. The committee recommends grants to support restoration, protection and enhancement of the river, wetlands and shore lands within the upper Connecticut River watershed, upstream of White River Junction, Vt. Over a 15-year period, the fund is expected to provide approximately $21 million for these projects. This is the 11th round of grants awarded from the fund, which is held at the Charitable Foundation.

NH Charitable Foundation supports Families First

Portsmouth – Families First Health and Support Center recently received a $20,000 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Funding came from the Barbara K. & Cyrus B. Sweet III Fund, the Dorothy and Paul Hobbs Seacoast Advised Fund, and the Joseph G. and Jean E. Sawtelle Fund at the foundation.

The Woodman Institute Museum Announces Board Appointments

The Woodman Institute Museum announces the appointment of three new Trustees and the transition of Thom Hindle from trustee to Museum Curator. Three Dover residents, each a fixture in the business community, will join current trustees Dover Attorney Anthony McManus and David Landry of Liberty Mutual.
