About the Job

Description

Youth Outreach and Power-Building Fellowship
Organization: New Hampshire Outright
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Reports to: Youth Programs Director
Salary: $55,000-$60,000

Our Mission: New Hampshire Outright seeks to serve, support, and advocate for LGBTQ+ youth and their families across the Granite State. We envision a NH where every young person can be seen, be heard, and be themselves.

Job Summary: NH Outright has been in a period of sustained growth from 2023-2025.

We have shifted from a regionally focused organization on the seacoast to a statewide movement focused on protecting, supporting, and advocating for LGBTQ+ youth. We ensure access to groups, resources, and life-saving support systems for LGBTQ+ young people across the Granite State. The time has arrived for us to add an additional youth outreach staff person who is focused externally, out the door, and on the ground continuing to build and deepen relationships with and for our young people.

You are a dynamic, energizing person who loves working with young people, and helping empower them to lead. You might have a background in organizing, or have been the person who started the GSA at your high school. You will have a public-facing, engaging role on a collaborative and supportive team. This is a full-time role that does include nights and weekends. This position is grant-funded for two years with the possibility of continuation if funding is available. This role is a hybrid role with expectation of regular, weekly meeting attendance at our Portsmouth office.

Outreach (60%)

-Strengthen relationships with our existing partners, and where possible, expand our collaborative work to better serve LGBTQ+ young people.

-Help connect young people and their families directly to services they may need.

-Expand NH Outright office hours to off-site locations.

-Assess the feasibility of adding additional components to our current programming to allow more youth to access in-person spaces.

-Partner with other youth-facing organizations to offer a youth advocacy day during the legislative season.

-Represent NH Outright at youth-facing and training events on how best to serve young people as appropriate.

Programming (30%)
-Build and oversee the development of a Youth Advisory Council for NHO to deepen the engagement, and strengthen leadership of our key stakeholders.

-Work with our Youth Programs Director to help lead, manage, and expand statewide peer-support chapters.

-Serve as the primary contact for statewide youth partnerships.

-Manage and liaise with our GSA Network, and our applicable national partnerships.

Admin (10%)
-Collaborate with Youth Programs Director to manage program budget, and spending.

-Keep office and meeting supplies well organized, and stocked

-Other administrative tasks as assigned

Desired skills/abilities:

-Experience working directly with young people is a must.

-An understanding of, and commitment to LGBTQ+ issues in New Hampshire, youth empowerment, and DEIJ-B are a must; experience with the LGBTQ+ community strongly preferred.

-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

-Strong organizational skills, and ability to work both independently and within a team.

-A BA in Psychology, Education, or another youth focused arena is preferred, but not required.

-We encourage applications from applicants who do not have a degree, but do have demonstrated professional experience working with youth, and managing youth programs, or who have lived experience that matches the needs of this role.

-Relationship management skills, and previous experience managing volunteers will be helpful.

-Experience with nonprofit organizations is also beneficial.

-General computer skills, including Google Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office (or equivalent).
-Ability to be nimble, and take an all hands-on deck approach when required.

Benefits include:
-Fully paid health insurance via our small group plan (health, vision, and dental)

-A 403b plan with an opportunity for up to a 3% employer match after 90 days
-Generous PTO, including 1-2 weeks per year of organization closure for rest and renewal

-Fully paid coverage in NH’s Paid Family Medical Leave Program

-A hybrid, flexible work environment
