Description

Welcome to the hub of guest activity. Your office is located in the historic home and as our Visitor Experience Liaison, your role will involve providing high-quality customer service to visitors to the John Hay Estate at The Fells throughout the summer season. 

We are looking to fill both part-time and full-time positions with exceptional individuals who will ensure that visitors have a memorable and enjoyable experience while visiting The Fells. You will be responsible for greeting and welcoming guests, providing information and assistance, and promoting our mission, our programs, memberships, and services. 

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent communication and people skills, be customer-oriented, take initiative, possess an upbeat attitude, and have an interest in history, horticulture, and wildlife. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Open the Main House, deactivate the security alarm, turn on all lights, complete a visual inspection before visitors arrive, report any concerns to the Executive Director.
  • Inspect public spaces, for cleanliness, restock paper supplies. 
  • Greet and welcome visitors and volunteers in a friendly manner.
  • Provide information about our gardens & grounds, historical home, daily programs, and events.
  • Answer questions and inquiries from visitors and volunteers via phone, email, or in person.
  • Assist with selling concert tickets, memberships, products, or other services.
  • Administer and orient visitors to our house and garden tours. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment for all visitors and staff. 
  • Closing the Main House, turn off all lights, complete a visual inspection and report any concerns to the Executive Director and activate security alarm. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Upbeat, cheerful outlook with strong communication skills and confidence. 
  • Understanding and appreciation for a high-level of customer service. 
  • Cooperative and confident with customers, clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook email.
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, or evenings.
