DESCRIPTION 

New Futures, New Hampshire’s leading health policy and advocacy organization, is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Training Manager to manage and implement New Futures’ advocacy training program. This position will also work with staff, contracted partners, and stakeholders on the ground to identify, engage and mobilize trained advocates to act on legislation and policy priorities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum for New Futures’ advocacy trainings for individuals and New Futures’ advocacy trainings for nonprofit organizations;
  • Coordinate and implement New Futures’ individual & organizational training programs;
  • Coordinate and implement multiple full-day advocacy trainings throughout the year that are hosted by New Futures
  • Consult with organizations to identify specific training needs and, when appropriate, design custom trainings that provide the desired education and support;
  • Standardize evaluation processes for New Futures advocacy trainings and provide regular evaluation summaries to management and New Futures board;
  • Work with the Data Manager in the maintenance of a clear and responsive EveryAction database to support tailored, data-driven advocacy opportunities;
  • Travel to partner organizations and other groups and present advocacy trainings;
  • Working with the VP of Advocacy, VP of Community Engagement, and policy staff, evolve advocacy training curriculum to respond to needs of advocates, policy challenges/opportunities, and the New Futures organization;
  • Expand accessibility of the training program through different languages and modalities, prioritizing clear and concise language, utilizing diverse learning formats (like visuals, audio, and video), and considering cultural relevance;
  • Support New Future staff members in implementing best practices around training/presentation development and delivery;
  • As a part of the New Futures Community Engagement teams, orchestrate advocate turnout on specific policy issues;
  • Ensure multi-directional engagement around advocacy efforts and on the ground priorities and issues;
  • Identify and attend relevant community meetings and events as a representative of New Futures;
  • Collaborate with partners to organize public education and advocacy events such as roundtables, legislative breakfasts, in-district meetings, film screenings, panels and tailored advocacy training opportunities;

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Exceptional oral communication skills, including public speaking experience;
  • Familiarity with the NH legislative process and/or political organizing is preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience in effective internal and external communication, collaboration, and coordination with individuals and organizations;
  • Demonstrated skill as a grassroots organizer;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to function under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a high functioning team;
  • Ability to develop strong and effective working relationships with diverse and multi-cultural constituencies including New Futures staff, policymakers, the media, and others;
  • Knowledge of MS Office with strong word processing, Excel, database, social media platforms, and,
  • Internet research skills

Minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Minimum 2 years prior experience, preferably in public policy, political organizing or community development
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, health promotions, education or community development from a recognized college or university
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Strong leadership and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team.
  • Access to reliable transportation and a valid drivers’ license. 

HOURS: This is a full-time, exempt position, based in Concord.

Compensation & Benefits: New Futures offers competitive full-time benefits including: Health, dental and life insurance; 403(b) retirement 5% salary match after 1 continuous year of employment; paid time off for individual holidays; sick, vacation and personal time; cell phone/home internet reimbursement; remote work options (as reasonably feasible based on position and nature of work); and, ongoing professional development opportunities, among others. The starting wage range for this position is $56,000 - $58,000.
